The shrub is speaking in Bible-Code again.
"heartened by all those responses, to love these people as they do themselves, to help the least of these, to follow all those things which make this country great."

that's a paraphrase, but to the Fundies, they KNOW he's talking Gospel.

I wish he'd spend more time DOING, and less time TALKING about it.

1. I really don't think he should go there
We can quote the bible too:

-And the meek shall inherit the earth.

or how about

-Jesus wept.

“Take care that you don't flaunt your religion in public to be noticed by others. Otherwise, you will have no recognition from your Father in the heavens"

14. yes! and wearing your
religion on your sleeve- the phylacteries...-
AND- "To whom much is given, much will be required"
AND- "It would be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven."

There is SO much that falls by the wayside when the 'compassion'less Conservatives try to justify their greed with the bible.

And if indeed they honestly believed in the God they espouse, and the infallibility of the bible, they are condemning THEMSELVES to that lake of everlasting fire.

scary ... and sad.

5. I think this one is appropriate:
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 11:33 AM by RevCheesehead
"And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell - AND GREAT WAS ITS FALL!" (Matthew 7:26-27)

Actually, Luke says it better:
"But the one who hears and does not act is like a man who build a house on the ground without a foundation. When the river burst against it, immediately it fell, and great was the ruin of that house." (Luke 6:49)

2. He never freaking cared about "the least of these" before. Usually, he is
trying to kill them off one way or another.

Oh wait. He's still doing that.

6. They will be increasing the 'God talk' in the coming days, watch for
it. I noticed they had started ratcheting it up 2 days ago including Condi, and I believe I know why. bush has lost the 'strong and decisive leader' misnomer so all they have left is to appeal to the basest of their base in hopes of keeping them believing 'he is a Christian man' misnomer.

11. that's exactly right.
That's part of the Rovian spin. Use the language to appeal to the base... "he can't be wrong - he's quoting the bible!"

Fools - "even the devil can quote scripture."

8. Look! Jesus talks about FRISTIANS!
"The scribes and pharisees sit on Moses' seat; therefore, do whatever they teach you and follow it; but do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach. They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of others; but they themselves are unwilling to lift a finger to move them. They do all their deeds to be seen by others... 18. How about these excerpts
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 03:43 PM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
from the O.T.:

From Psalm 73(74)

"....Remember this, Lord, and see the enemy scoffing;
a senseless people insults your name.
Do not give Israel your dove, to the hawk
nor forget the life of your poor ones for ever.

Remember your covenant; every cave in the land
is a place where violence makes its home.
Do not let the oppressed return disappointed;
let the poor and the needy bless your name.

Arise,O God and defend your cause!
Remember how the senseless revile you all the day
the daily increasing uproar of your foes".

And from Psalm 67(68)

"....Show forth your might,
your might, O God, which you have shown for us.
For the sake of your temple, high in Jerusalem
May kings come to you bringing their tribute.

Threaten the wild beast that dwells in the reeds,
the bands of the mighty and lords of the peoples.
Let them bow down offering silver.
Scatter the people who delight in war.
Princes will make their way from Egypt:
Ethiopia will stretch out her hands to God.
..."

and

Prov 22:22 023

"Do not rob the poor, because he is poor,
or crush the afflicted at the gate*;
for the Lord will plead their cause
and despoil of life those who despoil them".

* Like the police who turned away evacuees from the border of a neighbouring state.

Hebrews 10:30

"Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord, I will repay!"

Maybe worth praying first thing in the morning and last thing at night.

15. shameless pandering
I've heard several news models refer to Katrina as an "apocalyptic" storm. That must really get the fundies' nipples hard to hear that crap on actual tv and all.

Sheeesh!
