In all fairness, Barbara Bush's quote is being taken out of context
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 11:45 AM by tk2kewl
She is widely quotes as saying this:

this is working very well for them

But what she actually said was this:

What I’m hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them.

So, lets be fair and accurate, and let everyone know what she REALLY meant.

It really isn't fair that they take her quote out of context. I demand that the MSM play the entire thing!! Think I'll send a note to Keith Olbermann...

So I agree. Let the quote speak for itself, in it's entirety. She's a classist, racist pig. How about that?

10. Accuracy and context are important
If you don't have that, you may not get the real story.

Thanks for your precise correction.

14. Lemme see, this is what you printed as what Barbara Bush said...
..."And so many of the people in the arena here, you know, were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (she chuckles slightly) is working very well for them."

That's pretty clear to me. Nothing out of context there.

Now take the other statement made by Barbara: "...What I’m hearing which is sort of scary is they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality."

That's pretty clear to me also. Seems to put everything into context.

Barbara is saying, "For God's sake people in Texas, stop being so nice to these people who are destroying your beautiful minds. Now they'll all want to stay in Texas and expect this nice treatment all the time!"

29. overprivileged is not new at all
One of the scariest definitions comes from here:
http://www.marketingpower.com/mg-dictionary-view2302.php

and says in part "that has more than enough money to purchase the necessities ... appropriate for its class status."

<bad UC accent>Anyone for a round of class war?</bad>

31. yeah right
they like the dignity of showering en masse, waiting in line for food, sleeping in a large room with the lights on and in many cases, speakers blaring, they like wearing hand-me downs....

This disdain by Barbara only furthers my view of what should happen tot he Bush family, because father and sons have gambled with the finances of millions of people, when we get him, we should take his entire family's fortune ptu it back in teh treasury, leavnign them penniless and to deal with the life in the "Ownership society".

37. Yes living in a stadium ...

Yes, living in a stadium with beds 3 feet to your left, right front and back is working out quite well you freeper bitch. We should all be so lucky to live in an abandoned sports stadium with nothing but the clothes on your back and some old matriach Republican hag to chuckle and tell you how lucky you are.

The Bush clan never had the "Warm Springs" experience. They never learned what it's like to be an "average American".

In order to emphasize, I'm sure that old Marie-Antoinette Bush would have to spend the night at a Holiday Inn which lacked coolies to beat when you get frustrated.
