Two thoughts... Superdome/Convention Center and people staying
I was thinking last night as I folded my Steelers shirt while I was doing laundry - I hadn't watched any football this weekend... I couldn't bring myself to look at a 'dome' for entertainment.

How are the people of New Orleans going to be able to USE the Superdome or Convention center now? Am I crazy in this line of thought? I'm not talking about the water damage or wind damage - I'm talking about the emotional damage of what happened there...

My second thought, people are staying even though the mayors are begging them to leave. Are we going to have to go in and force people out at gun point? So far, from the local coverage I've heard and seen, this isn't happening. wwltv.com showed many instances yesterday where 911 was going out, telling people you need to leave. But these people wouldn't go. And the police said, ok, but we're warning you - disease is a very real threat and no supplies may be coming...

So, what will the govt do then? Let them starve? I've heard they are threatening to cut them off - no food, water - basically, that's a siege. Or are they going to evacuate by force? Either is horrible, when you think about it...

1. Convention center is almost certainly going to be bulldozed.
Superdome might be as well.

3. A memorial...
Make the coliseum and convention center into a memorial. Close the doors, except for memorial events. Post images of the disaster throughout both buildings so that people will never forget it.

As for the folks staying, they have the right to stay, don't they?

Hopefully good folks who aren't the DAMN GUMMINT will provide them food and supplies until they elect to leave or the water does.
