22 bodies found tied together in village
VIOLET, La. -- The 22 people died together.

Police believe they tried to escape the floodwaters of Hurricane Katrina lashed to one another with a rope.

Rescuers found them last week in this village just east of New Orleans.

No one has identified them yet. No one has tried to figure out who they are or how they knew each other or how far they had come before a rescue crew found them wrapped around a pole.

1. Damn.
 I had been thinking how I would tie everyone in my group together so as not to lose track of anyone.

3. Someone commenting on this same story in another thread...
...mentioned it's a very bad idea to tie yourself to a line in water.

The reason: if one end of the line gets caught up, objects on the other tend to 'plane down' into the water.

Ugh. What a way to die.

2. water was probably too swift. Right there, probably two or three
families wiped out. I feel for the sanity of people who see this stuff.

4. Yeah. Just in this small town there are some 100 deaths.
That the sheriff is talking about right now. He suspects 500.
