One Father's Perspective that should shake the world
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 07:41 PM by Capn Sunshine
TX Lib posted this in the lounge.
You big meanies scare him so he doesn't post in GD. (Thanks, A-holes.)

In his memoirs, "A World Transformed," written five years ago, George Bush, Senior, wrote the following to explain why he didn't go after Saddam Hussein at the end of the Gulf War.

"Trying to eliminate Saddam...would have incurred incalculable human and political costs. Apprehending him was probably impossible.... We would have been forced to occupy Baghdad and, in effect, rule Iraq.... there was no viable "exit strategy" we could see, violating another of our principles. Furthermore, we had been self-consciously trying to set a pattern for handling aggression in the post-Cold War world. Going in and occupying Iraq, thus unilaterally exceeding the United Nations' mandate, would have destroyed the precedent of international response to aggression that we hoped to establish. Had we gone the invasion route, the United States could conceivably still be an occupying power in a bitterly hostile land."

If only his son could read.

2. But, I'm not a big meanie! I'm just an old phart!
:D

Interesting. If Bunnypants knew about these comments, it somewhat defuses the theory that he was "avenging" poppy. Hmmmmmm.
I think it means he's just fuckin' shithouse rat nuts.

3. *Ahem* TXLib is male, not female.
And the reason I don't frequently post in GD is it moves too quickly; it seems things have more play in the Lounge.

I changed the gender.I blatantly commented on the condition of many mo fos here. Editorializing. This is the risk you run when others post for you. :)

But I hope you appreciate the thought.

7. Sounds like the Chimp has a "big" Poppy problem. His psychological
disturbances stem from wanting to be better than Daddy and to show him he is stronger, and has a bigger base (his RW/PNAC/Religous Crowd who left his Poppy.

But, he screwed up again.and and his temper tantrums did exactly what Poppy wasn't willing to do. Chimp is going to have some really serious mental breakdown soon. I hope they have the straight jackets ready. Why the hell did Poppy pick Cheney for Chimp as VP (that was the buzz at the time)? Or, did Chimp defy Poppy even then, by picking Cheney on his own? Or, did Cheney pick himself (he actually did) because he knew that Chimp was weak?

Lot's of odd things there to think about.

Maybe Poppy even had second thoughts about Iraq, wishing he really had gone in there.....long after he wrote the book.

Whatever, he unleashed his "screw up" on America and we are all suffering for it. It's even worse than was under Poppy, and that's saying something. For those of us, who remember Poppy!
