7. Absolutely. First time I've seen any bodies. I hope Oprah can
keep it up. This could/should be a new focus for her career. Things have to change in this country, and someone big needs to be out front.
None of what we write here will reach a single dittohead.

She hasn't forgotten how to do the job, sounds like.

I have to wait until 1am to catch it. Sigh.

11. One of the most important tv shows I've ever seen -
gutwrenching and powerful - I cried the entire hour. And cheered when she wouldn't back down to the mayor or the nat'l guard when they didn't want her to go into the Superdome. How she had the strength to go in there...as she said to the guardsman, "I'm a strong woman". Yes you are, Oprah!

being left to die in a morgue because they can't do anymore for them.

Bush, Chertoff and Brown need to be brought up on charges of criminal negligence (Cheney and Rumsfeld for the hell of it too). We just can't take another 3 years of these evil people.

I think we've got some, it's just going to take a while to get it online.

Melodybe's got it (it's missing the first bit, but that's still fantastic) and bpilgrim is going to host it.... the person at dailyKos was being told to send it to crooksandliars or something...we'll get it.

35. That is the for real truth.
Some DUers were saying that they wouldn't want celebrities gawking at them, or being all gross and seeing their favorite star while they still had no home and no job left.

But I'd agree that Oprah is probably one of the only people that is beloved and respected by many of the people in the Superdome, and many others outside of it. She is an American icon.

39. I cried, bawled like a baby
I haven't cried like this in a while, choking, gasping for air tears. I mean, i have seen a lot on the coverage of Katrina's aftermath, but for some reason it stuck with me today and this just hit me in the gut.

I thought a little bit of it was sensationalistic, but not without reason. We NEED people to understand the scope of this disaster.

44. My email to Ms Winfrey
Dear Ms Winfrey,

I request that you call all our Members of Congress to meet their Constitutional duty to defend the Republic against all enemies – domestic and foreign - and demand that Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney resign.

Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney are responsible for the colossal destruction of the infrastructure of the United States of America.

The culmination of their coordinated indifference and willful neglect of the protective infrastructure of New Orleans and the appropriate actions to protect the people of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast is now fully visible to all.

The whole world is not merely watching they've made it clear they know exactly who are responsible.

We do not need to await leaked classified documents or whistle blowers or any form of insider information. We have all the facts we need to demand the immediate resignation and subsequent retribution by Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney and many of their minions.

The whole world is watching and their revulsion is not confined to one political party or another, it is directed at the vast inhumanity demonstrated by Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney and all those aligned with their criminal neglect of the people of New Orleans, their unbounded avarice, and their total disregard for the law.

Thank you, in advance, for requesting the resignation of Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney.

And, thank you for your exceptional leadership demonstrated today by your actions in New Orleans. Please do not stop.

Peace,
xxx

I'd have some doubts about anyone who wouldn't be moved to tears by some of what's in that 50-something minutes of TV...unless they'd long since run out of tears, of course.
