GLOBAL WARMING: DISAGREE/AGREE?
There are many theories out there supporting or not supporting global warming. What category do you fall under - and why? Please Respond, this is a project.

1. Just about EVERY reputable scientist and scientific body now agree
that the planet is warming alarmingly and is probably caused by human action. Theory? Whatever. In 20 years when there is no snow on top of Kilimanjaro or glaciers in the Arctic, perhaps people will stop referring to global warming as just a theory.

3. There is widespread agreement in the scientific community
that global warming is occuring. It is not rocket science, or even complicated- human beings have increased CO2 levels by massive amounts in the past 100 years. CO2 is a greenhouse gas (Look at Venus, where surface temperatures are 800 degrees, even though the planet itself is only about 1/3 closer to the sun than the Earth is) and the mechanism by which it lets in light and traps heat is well understood.

There is no "debate" in the scientific community over global warming just like there is no "debate" over evolution. With global warming you have a few paid oil industry shills constantly saying "it needs more study", with Evolution you have theocrats and right-wingers trying to peddle bullshit like "intelligent design" off as legitimate science, which it isn't.

Global Warming is real, and it is happening right now.

4. What kind of a project are you doing?
We can give you information, but it would help to know what you're doing? High school, college... what exactly is your project about?

I'm a teacher myself. Please be specfic.

5. global warming
I am just trying to get thoughts of support or disagreement. I am a high school student in the glaringly red state of South Carolina and hope to make a point in my project supporting global warming. I am also doing a poll on a republican forum asking the same question. I hope to find the results very intresting. Thank you for your time and if you have any information you might think is helpful please send it on.

6. I agree with independent scientists
i.e., those affiliated with academia or other independent means. This does not include scientists employed by coal, oil, or other industries which have an financial interest in skewing the results.

All independent scientists agree. Global warming is a *fact*. Things that mankind does is effecting the global temperature.

Sticking ones fingers in ones ears and yelling, "Is not! Is not! Is not!" does not change the *facts* which are indisputable.

7. Global warming is a fact and it is caused by humans!
It's a fact, like the earth going around the sun, and water being wet (even at midnight!).

Check it out for yourself.

http://www.realclimate.org/

All the criticism is debunked. Global warming has been observed and analyzed by numerous scientific methods, and by several independent approaches. The forcing factors influencing climates have been established and checked. This poll is as senseless as a poll on "Are atoms made out of protons and neutrons?". It's not a matter of opinion, but of science, and the facts are there for everybody to see and verify.
