3. This country owes????
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 07:03 PM by valerief
The citizens of this country do not control the press and do not control Diebold and do not control (but could to a great extent) the military.

The citizens of this country are not corporations. Corporations own this country.

I guess, corporations owe the Katrina dead and survivors an apology.

Now they ought to put him up on the rack, take a look underneath and find out where all those funny noises are coming from.

5. Way to go, Oprah.. .
glad to see you step up to the plate and challenge the Chimp.

He'll ignore you like all the other question/appeals for the past 5 years of his miserable rule but at least you put him on the spot.

Thanks.:kick:

7. I think Oprah should be president.
Seriously - she has the money, the name recognition and a very loyal base of fans and admirers. Hell, she couldn't possibly fuck up any more than the idiot we have in office now.

13. Michael Moore tried to talk her into it..
she wants nothing to do with politics. And Americans have donated over $400 million plus food, clothes, time. It's the government that owes these people an apology not the American people.

to run: "Why would I want that job? It doesn't pay anything." I'm sure Oprah does more good where she is not restrained by Congress.

14. Arnold support, major screw-up. I'm convinced she did it for
Maria, who has been a good friend of hers for many years. Oprah's albatross, I guess.

I give her credit for her current efforts, though. Her sincerity comes through, at least to me. Her efforts contrast dramatically with the sanctimonious Bushies* and all the rest of the RW ilck--especially the so-called "religious" right.

15. who cares about the gropenator
there are people dying and Oprah has put a human face on this tragedy. she did a kick ass job with this show, by letting us see what is really going on down there with no holes barred.

Oprah and Maria Shriver are best friends and have been for a LONG LONG TIME. The "gropenator" is old news.

both for that and for Bush's kiss. It would take more than one show, though...

37. She did give him a free hour on her show right before the election
pumping him up (no pun intended).

She did not give the other candidates time and as we all know Oprah has a lot of influence on her followers.

It was completely wrong to do this.

so, yes I would say she helped elect him in a big way.

22. really?
I NEVER knew that. Jesus christ almighty!!! :puke:

anyway, the show was good however. The best thing I caught was this sign that I found on a site on the www and it say on it SHELTER FROM HELL.

If you look closely on the upper right side you see writing that is difficult to read but on her show she showed it much larger and those words say BUSH COME HOME ...

Whew! It was well worthing watching for that alone!

Thank you Oprah!

:kick:

32. knock off the Oprah bashing -- Oprah has done ALOT of good things
The Arnold thing wasn't her finest hour. She did it because she and Maria Shriver have been friends ever since Oprah was a young, unknown black news personality -- Maria befriended her. She was helping a friend -- bad judgment. However, Oprah does certain things very well, and helping those less fortunate is one of them. She rocks, and she can get stuff DONE. We need to support her.

29. Did she just wake up like Rip Van Winkle?
About time to take a break from all that shopping, perfectly-groomed audiences, bubble baths, playing the grand dame give aways, and helping AAAAAAARrrooold. She practically endorsed bush for god's sake.

Hey Oprah, guess what? It's not the country that owed those dead and half-dead people an apology. By the way, how do you apologize to the dead anyway.

But, so glad to hear you are noticing something outside your squeaky clean capitalisticly encrusted environment.

33. There's been times I've been fed up with Oprah
with her following, I've thought she could be doing more issues on her show. BUT, I taped her show today and am only about 15 minutes into it - I give her a lot of credit for this - she's showing more guts and concern than Bush even pretended to have and I believe she's sincere.

34. OPrah does an awful lot for underprivileged and
less fortunate people. She does have her glitzy lifestyle, but she gives a hell of a lot back to the world... from college scholarships to buying a firetruck for Native American firefighters to helping Appalachian women learn to read and get jobs. She's good folks, and helps sincerely, unlike Dr. Phil.
