Whoda thunk that Russert and Imus would be telling it like it is?

"Russert blasts Government over handling of Katrina"

:wow:

Snip*

Tim Russert: ... Every computer model, every one, and the one I talked about earlier, Hurricane Pam, FEMA was there, the White House was there, there is a CD that exists that says that if a hurricane level three or more it is going to breach the levee. The levee was breached, it was posted on the New York Times website at 10:00 P.M. Monday night. Secretary of Homeland Security Chertoff told me that he did not know until Tuesday afternoon. There were tens of thousands of people at the convention center without food and water and any security. On Thursday, Chertoff and the head of FEMA Michael Brown said that they were not aware of that. Command and control? Communications? Come on. I mean there is nothing disloyal or not being patriotic asking tough questions. It's why we are here. We have to call the government accountable particularly when there are bodies floating in water through the streets of New Orleans."

8. Didn't someone try to pull him into the Plame investigation?
And he might be realizing they'll sell him out in a heartbeat? Maybe?

2. I listened to it! And I agree.
:wow: FEMA fucked up! And Vacation Boy should be held accountable for the actions or non actions of his FEMA Director.

4. I heard the latter part of Russert's time w/Imus and he WAS
kicking ass. Imus was highly critical of the feds, including Bush. And I think Imus has some (no offense) "good old boy" audience. You know, old-fashioned types who never really drank anyone's KoolAid.

6. The truth cannot be denied.
Okay, the Bush apologists can TRY to deny it. Some of the most seriously damaged among them may succeed in ignoring the facts.

But what Russert said here is a simple, unassailable truth: The people supposedly in charge FAILED. They failed utterly. And their own words prove it.

And let's not forget this fact either: The responsibility for the failure resides with George W. Bush. He's the president. He's the commander-in-chief. And he failed to respond when the need was dire, and plain for all the world to see.

Shame.

:grr:

11. YES bush failed. And failed utterly. Especially since he was the guy
who was gonna keep us safe. He was "Captain America" and was gonna save us all and keep us from danger and bad things and bad guys. It was all him. Kerry couldn't do it. No other Democrats could do it. It was HIM, and HIM ALONE.

And look where we are. Just another lie. Just another empty promise. bush - it's on YOU, asshole. You and your swagger and arrogance and tough talk and empty promises and crawfishin' all over kingdom come. FUCK YOU.

7. not being patriotic. so we arent allowed to call bush on ANYTHING
without a defense of doesnt mean i am not patriotic. when did this world come to that. i htought challenging bush on the war is what made us not patriotic. didnt know it fed so wide to all things the president did, if we questioned, we werent being patriotic. this is a slip on russerts part. but a big slip that we are not sitting in that kind of a mentality. and for the press to feel that, wow,.....one may wonder

12. Fuck Russert

It was readily apparent during the first election campaign that Dubya's management abilities would be stretched to the limit managing a Seven Eleven convenience store, yet the media whores like Tim Russert and his media whore pals shamelessly promoted that incompetent jackass as genuine presidential material and eagerly covered (until now at any rate) for his every fuckup at every chance they got. And now it looks like they are finally getting buyers remorse. I guess better late than never. It's just too bad 40,000 or so will have died and a million made homeless because the media whores were more interested in getting their customary big fat pay checks and hobnobbing in the right Washington social circles than telling the truth to their readers and their audiences.
