Who Would You like to see in Dean's Cabinet???
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 08:45 PM by seventhson
I'm with Dean/Edwards right now for Prez/VP

I think we have a great democratic team

Kucinich for Secretary of DHHS.

Sharpton for Civil Rights Commission.

Braun for Secretary of Commerce.

Gephardt - Secretary of Labor.

Gore - Secretary of State

Defense Secretary - Sam Nunn

Homeland Security - George Mitchell (until he goes to the Supreme Court)

Edited to delete inflammation

ENVIRONMENT?? Ralph Nader?

Suggestions for the cabinet?

3. Is he a repug???
I think he has been good but not always great.

But is he a DEM???

If so, I would second that emotion for now as a start of candidates.

We need a DEAN DREAN TEAM that the American People can get behind!!!

And Dean should start talking about it NOW!!!

More candidates for positions folks???

2. With all due respect,
I don't think Gephardt would take the Dept of Labor spot. I think that he would feel it was kind of below him, which it probably is.

5. I disagree. The issues of labor rights is handled there in administrative
proceedings.

If Dean promised him that spot he would be AWESOME and it would make him a better candidate for Pres or VP down the road.

I actually think Gephardt would make a better VP probably than Edwards but he is a lousy candidate right now

I would prefer to keep republicans OUT of a Dean cabinet. Especially Clark. That is my opinion

19. Clark couldn't be chairman of the Joint Chiefs of staff...
you can't hold that position, and the position of Commander-in-chief at the same time.

I dont know much about Terkel honest. I would like a union leader, DK, Gephardt get that job on labor. Terkel has known DK since he was the boy mayor. He wrote a real good article that I cant get my hands on though.

Do you know the name of it? (Though I can probably find out easily enough.)

John, did you see the speech that DK gave Friday at the DNC meeting? It was in-f'ing-credible! Wow! (I guess you're used to that though.) All the candidates gave great speeches, though, even Lieberman. Made me proud to be a Democrat. :)

11. Bill Clinton for SecState
He's greatly admired in other countries, no one could argue that he wasn't qualified, and the mass heart attacks it would cause on the right would be helpful as well!

We really need to get someone serious in that position. He would be qualified. It is important that he is a lawyer also.

22. I *might* consider it IF...
Edited on Sat Oct-04-03 10:43 AM by Padraig18
... he bought 30 minutes of prime-time week night air time on all 5 major networks and IMPLORED (in no uncertain terms) his fellow Greens to vote Democrat in 2004 using these specific words: "Our very existence as a self-governing republic depends upon each of you voting for (fill in Democrat nominee)." He would also take out a full-page ad to be run at least 3 times before election day in every daily newspaper with a circulation of over 50K subscribers (plus USA Today), urging the same AND he would mail letters to every known Greenie in the US, same song and dance.

27. That might work.
He should be required to throw his weight behind a Democrat, but that might require some political dealing ahead of time, such as "you help rally Green support for me (DEAN), and I'll offer you this environmental spot."

23. It's easy to blame this on him for what happened in Florida.
Many people voted for him, because they were not satisified with Gore, athough he was OK. I voted for Nader partly because I knew Gore would win easily in VT and wanted to make a vote of conscience, not just another vote for a status quo candidate. Nader got 7% in VT, and I believe only 2% in Florida. That 2% in Florida cost Gore the election.

Nader had his chance and now he should take a back seat and maybe accept a cabinet position, if offered. Environment is what he is best at and keeps him out the direct line of fire.

Maybe 4 years of Bush has it's silver lining in that we can now expose alot of what is wrong with this country. The whole world is helping us to open our eyes. And change for me does not mean going from Bush to Bush lite or Bush with a Democrat label, but someone like Dean, who stands for real change.

24. Screw FL!
He cost Gore the election by causing him to lose 3 states, any one of which would have rendered FL irrelevant! VT, as you pint out, is just one of the 3.

32. New Hampshire or Florida
Either state would have put Gore in the White House and Gore lost both by a margin of difference less than the Nader vote.

31. He did, by about 10%. That is why Nader got 7%.
If it was a closer contest, I would have voted for Gore. Many people did this, for that reason. My own sister in Massachusetts. Many people were expressing a vote of conscience for real change. Now, we will get that chance with Dean, who also happens to be very electable.

29. Good Start
But if Edwards doesn't land the VP spot, then he'd be a great Attorney General.

Start Gore at the State Department, but he goes when it comes time to nominate him to the Supreme Court.
