3 college kids can drive to NO and rescue people and drive off
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 10:53 PM by BigBearJohn
but our wonderful government can't rescue anybody for 5 days????

CNN had the 3 kids on t.v. explaining how they were watching t.v.
and got tired of watching the disaster. They wanted to help so
they printed out some fake press credentials, jumped in their car,
drove to New Orleans, got past the guards and saved people.

2. But someone SHOT at a HELICOPTER!!! So of course U.S. Army and
National Guard couldn't go in force and secure the situation--it takes 3 college students from Duke to do that!

6. As the late Jerry Garcia once wisely said...
"Somebody has to do something, and it's so incredibly pathetic that it has to be us.

If they could get in there within 20 minutes........why couldn't anyone else? Amazing.

See their footage of the 150 buses leaving New Orleans EMPTY??

9. More insignificant anecdotal evidence for the extreme right-wingers
to utilize in their quest to destroy our nation and its essential governmental agencies. I can already hear them... "Govt. can't do anything right! Let's hire a private contractor like Haliburton!"

14. No.
Mine didn't. They looked like 3 goofy college kids to me. Of course, I wasn't even thinking about any other topics regarding them at the time.

19. Okay...
For whatever reason, mine did. I suppose it's not important really, but I just felt it. Gay people can be brave, too.

I think a hero's sexuality is at least as noteworthy as their age, race, occupation, or choice of college.

But really, I suppose I am fascinated that I am seeing the unexpected characters step up as true leaders in this crisis... while the expected leaders, daddies, freepers, and armchair generals flounder and pass the buck.

For example, Deamonte Love (a 6-year-old-boy) lead a baby and a band of five toddlers to safety. And, Jabbar Gibson hot-wired a bus and transported 100 Katrina survivors to Houston -- arriving before any FEMA buses. Oh and, what about the often criticized Hollywood liberals such as, Sean Pean and John Travolta and Oprah Winfrey and Ted Koppel actually saving people? I'm inspired that my faith in people, liberals, and humanity has been well placed.

I haven't seen many examples of "the adults in charge" rolling up their sleeves to save a soul.

them in and not the Red Cross or others with substantial supplies, etc? i saw their interview and thought that was a little strange.
