Sen. Clinton charges Bush has weakened disaster agency - Newsday

Witt, Sen. Clinton said Tuesday, "understood how to deal with emergencies," compared to the Bush administration's Katrina response when "certainly there was nobody in charge at the federal government, there was nobody willing to take responsibility to work with the state and local officials."

...

"Bureaucracy is not going to stand in the way of getting the job done for the people," Bush told reporters earlier in the day after meeting with his Cabinet to review storm-recovery efforts.

Clinton argued delays of aid and relief to trapped New Orleans and coastal residents should worry everyone.

"Every governor and mayor of any city or state in America" should look at the Katrina response, Clinton said, and ask themselves "If I'm calling for help, is help going to be on the way? Or am I going to have to wonder where the resources are?"

6. I would like to hear some democrats talking about the political consultant

that FEMA hired last year to provide advice on responding to the hurricanes which hit Florida. I think it says a lot about Bush and republicans in general and explains why FEMA acted prior to the hurricanes making landfall last year.
