Do the RWers, including Robertson, really blame the victims?
Not surprising, of course. As soon as I've heard about the extent of the damage, I wondered whether Pat Robertson would rejoice that his prayers have been answered. What with the City of New Orleans and its pubs and night life, what with the floating casinos off Mississippi.

But on TIME, Joe Klein wrote that "a group called Columbia Christians for Life announced that it had discerned God's purpose in the storm: the destruction of the five abortion clinics in the city. The proof was a radar photograph showing that the hurricane "looks like a fetus facing to the left (west) in the womb, in the early weeks of gestation." A photo of a 6-week fetus was helpfully provided for comparison."

Do we know of more incidents when Katrina was placed as an avenging god, or something, by Robertson and Robertson-like groups?

1. On the upside, God did answer his prayer and killed a justice
It was a conservative one, but still, God does answer Pat's prayers.

2. you know... I like Jesse Jackson, Jr's answer best:
"God caused Katrina. He will reveal his purpose in his own time."

This had nothing to do with gambling boats, women's health clinics, low rise jeans, Fifty Cent... this had to do with global warming causing a rise in the ocean's temperatures---and hurricanes are fueled mainly by warm ocean water... the more of it, the more powerful the hurricane is. It's science, but then again we can't look to fundamental cases to understand scientific principles of atmospheric events.

Being that God whispers in *'s ear, he must have told him not to go along with the Kyoto Treaty on global warming... well, the ocean waters have warmed up... there have been 3 more named tropical depression in the Atlantic since Katrina.
