John McCain to vote for Estate Tax
McCain Bends Right on Taxes
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) "will take a small step this week toward making peace with the Republican Party on the tax issue," Robert Novak writes. "He plans to vote for cloture to block a filibuster on the House-passed bill repealing the estate tax."

The reason? McCain "is the most broadly popular possible Republican candidate" for president in 2008, "whom Democrats despair of opposing and admit would demolish Hillary Clinton in a general election. Yet, his ability to win closed Republican primaries is questionable because of his apostasy on several issues -- especially tax reduction."

"Nothing unifies Republicans more than the estate tax. McCain's willingness to support cloture and a compromise bill signals he recognizes that political reality."

1. McCain is a right winger ...
... not a moderate; his vote is no surprise.

2. In other words
He will vote against the best interest of this nation to buy a few corporations and rich people's votes. Wouldn't surprise me if Satan were making a special place in hell for him right now...as we speak. But good thing--at least McCain will know everyone.
Nice.:puke:

3. Slimeball.
He's just a slimeball. His buddy-buddying around with Bush after the 2000 primary debacle convinced me of that.

8. OUTRAGE?????? YOU MUST BE KIDDING!
I must admit, I'm getting a bit weary of reading all the proclamations on these boards about how people are going to rise up and protest.

People don't give a shit. Nobody is going to be outraged. The rich are going to save a bundle of $$$$$$$$$$ because of this....and the government will sell it to the people on welfare how great this will be for them.

For anybody below the upper 5% this means SQUAT! Just another example of how you must be in power and rich to mean a damn thing anymore.

6. Let him eat cake with the rest of them.
I am glad he's sucking up to repukes, just as many real Republicans become Independents.
Association with bush will take them all down, and good riddance.

fucking republican. No matter what lies they tell to get elected. Look at Reagan, look at Bush...If you listened to them during their campaigns, some might think they were democrats and truly compassionate...

McCain, Musclehead Arnold, etc., are republicans and their ideology, will always be republican, favoring the rich and corporations over the poor and middle-class.

McCain has the same republican agenda and philosophy, only, he has just found another clever way to get fucking moderates, and even some democrats, to vote for him, thinking he's different than other republicans.

McCain is a fucking republican!!!!

10. He'd be tough in the general election
but some recent polls show Hillary within a few points of him. I'm not sure he's as strong as he was a year ago, frankly. (BTW, if Hillary thinks McCain is running and would demolish her in the GE, she wouldn't run anyway. She's not stupid.)

11. No surprise - Mr. Keating Five is irrevocably compromised
All of his "moderate" stances are whitewash to cover his deep and unquestionable involvement in Charles Keating's S&L fraud.

13. I e-mailed him my feelings about the repeal
Since I'm still waiting for a response to my letter of some two years ago about "If we are at war as you and the pRes say, why is there no draft, so everyone can join in the fun, why no surtax to pay for the war as we go, and no anti-profiteering law to keep the likes of Halliburton from over-charging for services?". I'm not expecting a response this time either. And writing Kyl is a waste of my time.

14. The problem is how many people think they are "rich" enough to pay it
It's amazing how many people on surveys think they are in the top 1% of net worth and/or income.

16. Where does Nofacts pull his shit out of?
"...whom Democrats despair of opposing and admit would demolish Hillary Clinton in a general election...."

She has made no formal announcement. No Democrats have said she's going to run. Few Democrats say she should be a candidate. The only people saying this shit are Republicans, who are salivating and ejaculating over the possibility, and I'll be damned if I let any of THEM choose my candidate for me.

BTW Bob: Who, exactly are these "Democrats" despairing? Names! Any? Perhaps Gov. Pulleditoutta Myass?
