Does anybody remember the name of the book that was discussed on last night's show. I'm having a senior moment.

6. The Doctor was making a lot of good points about fear
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 12:55 AM by ribrepin
All the constant fear-mongering causes people to be become desensitized to real threats and spend time worrying about things that aren't likely to threaten them. I thought the good doctor made a lot of sense.

Just read a couple of the Doctor's articles that hit home about the arthritis drugs. I was taking Bextra for arthritis in my knee. It worked very well for me. I took a low dose that kept the discomfort at bay. As soon as I stopped taking it, my blood pressure shot up and I began to have all kinds of trouble. I'm now slated for a knee replacement this fall. Hooray for fear. Now, I have something to really fear--anesthesia.

Meantime, I'll get my earthquake kit ready.

Jim McDermott (he's also a psychologist) talked about this in Moore's F911 and how if you make people so afraid they'll do anything and he talked about how the Bush group really played with people's minds and showed video's of him talking about fear and then talking about shopping and DisneyWorld. And McDermott also said how they would bring just enough fear to make you remember. Notice how we don't have any more terror warnings eh? They stole their second term and control everything so they don't need to. People are still afraid though. Even though I have my own personal fears (like public speaking) the big fears I just don't bother with because we're all going to die sooner or later. Heh. I remember what the great FDR said: "the only thing to fear is fear itself" and that helps me keep strength. This is how they got the "Patriot Act" and why they did it that close in time. So many people were afraid and the 2002 midterms were coming up and any democrat who voted against it because it was wrong wouldn't get re-elected (see Max Cleland).
