Gingrich blatantly insults NOLA community.

Sometimes I wonder whether I'd be better off just watching the commercials rather than flipping to FOX during breaks.

Between bouts of vomiting talking points and spreading falshoods about state and local government to the eager prodding of Hannity, Gingrich was trying to make the case that lemonaid could be made from lemons because if we all pulled together the displaced NOLA children might get a better education than they would have in NOLA schools.

Now I don't know much about NOLA schools but even giving him a pass on that supposition, he went on to say, after cutting on the schools, that the NOLA community provided children "nobody to look up to as a role model."

This from a population of people who included "the boat guy with axe" that went rooftop to rooftop chopping people out of their attic. And Jabbar Gibson. And many, many other unsung heroes who led their people out of the muck of NOLA when FEMA left them stranded.

What a peice of shit Gingrich is.

1. Jabbar!
Jabbar "Let's Roll" Gibson is the only character in this whole tragedy that provided me with a little hope, a little smile, and a little pride.

And Newt Gingrich remains a noxious weed. Did you expect more? :-)

3. Well, I liked Sonny too...

...though he wasn't from NOLA himself.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonny_Byrd

There are literally hundreds of heroes both from NOLA and from outside in this story, not even counting all the thousands of rescue and shelter workers of all stripes. They all deserve some credit. Pick one and wiki them.

Anyone know what's up with Jabbar's legal situation?

4. Sonny, too!!
You're right. There are so many heroes.

I need to think more about them, and less about the non-caring choads I'm surrounded with in everyday life. :-)

12. There were many actually
The nurses who did stay and manually bagged patients. The miles of people who showed up with their boats for S&R, only to be kicked out or turned away. There's alot of great stories that will come out of this eventually.

Sadly, the spew of people like Gingrich clouds it all. And it is NOT racist, so don't say that!

:hi:

5. There was also the guy that said he and his buddies commandeered
boats, and saved over 200 people. I think it was Oprah but not sure where I saw this and the questioner (not sure if it was a reporter), said "What does commandeered mean". He responded, "Stole, I stole the boats." This was done to point out, that if you stole a few boats (from people who had probably already evacuated) you could save a few hundred people, not a put down.

What kind of question is that. Of course you'd be better off watching the commericals. That's like, asking if you'd be better of reaching into the refrigerator than sticking your hands in the garbage can, when you're hungry.

10. NOLA
has been a notoriously dysfunctional community for a long time. Although I disagree about the role model issue, the schools have been a national disgrace for a long time.

The relatively recent issues of issuing $0.02 checks to teachers while keeping political lackeys on the payroll for years after they performed any duties (if they ever did) being only the latest issues. It is not for lack of deserving it that the school is in recievership by the state.

11. Gingrich: That wonderful guy who sliced our budgets without reviewing
the facts supporting the existence of social programs.

You want to take Gingrich down? Dig up some old archives that show him at the helm of budget cuts that make very little sense.
