Was Al Gore the only Democrat to do something Pro Active in New Orleans?

Does anyone have an article about efforts by any other prominent Dems to get supplies in or people out?

It's starting to bother me that Bush showed up but that no Democrat was there to survey the disaster. After all there were people of both parties in that disaster. Shouldn't Bush have brought a Democratic Senator with him when he toured. Or shouldn't a Dem Senator or House Rep. been on the ground or in a helicopter?

Bush is only the P-Resident...where were the others. Did he make sure he cut them off or kept them out?

1. I don't know about any others

but I was so proud of Al for doing what he did.Not for publicity, but for just trying to something. And he took no questions from reporters.
