He's done his best for five years to gut, castrate and destroy FEMA. Your stupid reaction by projecting the fault for Bush's deliberate sabotage onto the entire agency is just what he's counting on.

However, there are still about 5,000 non-politically appointed, highly trained and skilled people who continue to be on call day or night to leave their homes and families for many months at a time, work a minimum of 12 hours a day, seven days a week, living and working under terrible conditions - how would you like to have lived in a tent on an airport runway in Florida for months, while working 72 or more hours a week? They are the kind of fine and selfless people who make a career out of responding to disasters and helping desperate people, instead of lounging around the country club and calling their stock broker.

Each of you wiseguys should educate yourself about this agency and what Bush's henchmen have done and continue to do to it.

On Edit: The only people at FEMA who support Bush are the political appointees he foisted on the agency.

I've not heard a negative statement about the ones actually doing their jobs. And I don't believe there are that many STUPID people who would say to chimp-boy to totally disband the agency. I am well aware of the "starving" of FEMA - it is in the same category as any other budget item that benefits the average American. I think every American is thinking "OH EXCREMENT, what if my area has a catastrophe"?? There is NOT a single city in this country that could handle a crisis of this magnitude using their own resources, be it money or manpower. Lighten up and a new motto:
