1. may want to add a warning about the graphic nature of the photo
in your subject line.

I do like the work though!

8. nothing is stopping you from printing it on a postcard and mailing
you don't even have to put a return address.

Or if you do, just mark it "the White House"

5. That's a powerful graphic.
There's one small problem, though, which is that the Norquist quote is incorrect. It's a good paraphrase, but it's not an accurate quote. You may want to do some checking before finalizing.

6. if you find a definitive one, let me know--he's kind of squirrelly on
confirming this one.

Bill Moyers asked him to confirm it and he sidestepped.

13. I've found two versions.
I don't know if they're separate quotes made at different times or what, exactly, but here you go:

"I don't want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub."
http://www.thenationaldebate.com/blog/archives/2005/02/norquist_sidest.html

"My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years, to get it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub."

It's people like you that make this site the best on the planet. I can't tell you how many times I have come to the D.U. with a question and someone, somewhere will help me out. In this case... a small item...but... you give credance to the original poster. Thanks

31. You're too kind.

I just don't like to see any DUer's valuable efforts dismissed or put down by the opposition because of a technical inaccuracy. It's absolutely imperative that we be as completely factual and accurate as humanly possible or we damage our own efforts, and that's where we can help each other.

As for this comment: "I can't tell you how many times I have come to the D.U. with a question and someone, somewhere will help me out," -- I couldn't agree with you more. So many times I've needed input and multiple DU voices have answered with positive help.

:toast:

11. that's somebody's father, or son, or brother, or husband....
It just absolutely crushes me that that is how his life ended and how his body, which was so tender and precious to his mother and father, ended up drifting like it was just flotsam. It just absolutely breaks my heart.

There aren't tears enough in the whole wide world.

12. Recommended. That image is extremely powerful in a number of ways.
* voters may want to take a closer look. This victim's appearance would seem to resemble a rather large segment of red-staters. (Race and clothing)

This nightmare administration allowed (understatement) the needless deaths of tens of thousands of Americans of modest means. How will the government handle the next tornado season across the midwest? Not a lot of "Pioneer" donors there.

Just sayin'

When you are that person, you only have a couple of reactions:

1. Avoid the bully

2. plot revenge

3. suck up to the bully and help him kick other people's asses.

It's not hard to tell which Grover picked.

He's probably in Gannon's little black book too.

33. to Freepers monitoring this: Who has fascination with death?
Us or the president and his cronies that are profiting from it in Iraq?

Even if you believe what he says about trying to spread democracy in the Middle East (which is a good idea) who is spooging about spreading it by killing Iraqis?

We could spread democracy without killing anyone and by spending less money--simply stop supporting dictators in the region like Mubarak, Musharraf, and the Saudis, the last of which often ranked higher than Saddam on list of human rights abusers. We give them weapons and aid.

But of course Bush doesn't want that even in Iraq. He wants the oil, and had a plan to privatize and expropriate it before they went in. You can see the documents and see interviews with the players like Grover Norquist (who helped write the plan) and General Jay Garner who said stealing their oil would inflame resistance to the occupation--so he was fired. In their interim constitution, the Bushies made it as difficult as possible for the Iraqis to undo this crime.

http://www.gregpalast.com/iraqmeetingstimeline.html

If you read polls of Iraqis, the overwhelming majority want us to leave. A third of the legislators elected in the election we oversaw have signed a letter asking us to leave. The horrible Muqtada al Sadr commited the terrorist act of collecting a petition with a million signatures asking us to leave.

You guys don't really care about any of this. You just like the idea of killing some A-rabs, the same way you don't really care if the people executed when Bush was governor of Texas were innocent or guilty.

I'm trying to do you guys a favor. The next time Bush decides to punish a local official during a natural disaster by withholding help, it could be you or a family member face down in the water. Just as Cindy Sheehan is trying to tell you that your kid or nephew could die in Iraq, inflaming hatred against the US and increasing the threat of terrorism, not reducing it. Don't take my word for it. Pollster John Zogby found over 90% of Arabs didn't believe our stated reasons for the war when we went in, and a year later, that number was HIGHER--98% in Egypt.

This is just like the White House intimidation and censorship of reporters in Iraq that middle and working class republicans obediently go along with. You like the idea of killing but throw a hissy fit when someone shows you what you approve of. You're like kids who throw a rock off an overpass and then cry like a fucking baby when the cops catch you and make you look at the face you crushed.

35. Freepers think photos of 9/11 victims would show support for Bush(?)
I guess if your sources of information are limited to talk radio and fox news and you studiously avoid the investigative journalism done in the rest of the world, you wouldn't know that Bush ignored the ample warnings he had for 9/11, just he ignored the warnings and underfunded the repairs that would have mitigated the damage of the hurricane.

It's just sad. Why don't you righties start fact-checking and doing your own research rather than relying on people like Sean who you should know by now consistently lie to you?

http://www.hannity.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28005&page=6&pp=10

you know, I'm thinking... let the DU'er post their photo.

As long as we can start posting the 9/11 WTC photos and remind folks how terrible that day was.

Of course the DU'er will probably balk that the photos are insensitive to the Islamofacist.

That is a powerful message, unfortunately it perpetuates the myth that CONservatives stand for small government.

The RePUKES have always created more government and bureaucracy. But then, they never let reality stop their wild tales.

The naked Vietnamese girl running down the road crying. It captured the moment like no other.

"Campassionate Conservatism" captures the this current tragedy in the same manner.
