A Vote for Arnold is a vote encouraging the sexual abuse of women
This ad should appear in every paper in California on Monday.

Sorry Arnold, sorry doesn't cut it.
You don't get to spend your adult life molesting women and then absolve yourself of all guilt with a convenient apology.
People of California: Think of your wifes and your daughters. And remember. A vote for Arnold is a vote condoning sexual molestation. A vote for Arnold is a vote encouraging the sexual abuse of women.

1. It's also a vote for a culture of sexism
Institutionalized sexism and abuse of power everywhere. Don't imagine that this is or would be his ONLY abuse of power.

12. "encouraging the sexual abuse of women" is a bit strong, but it is
certainly condoning the sexual abuse and it does create a "culture of sexism."

If you believe that sexism, sexual harrasment and sexual assault are wrong, then you have to be worried that Ahnuld might be insensative to the ligitimate concerns of millions of women. If I lived in Colliefornia, I would be concerned that if Ahnuld became governor, he might not put a high priority on safeguarding the women that I care about from this type of behavior.

2. Some apology
He doesn't admit that he hurt women, only that he "offended" them. Like someone who belches at a dinner table. Why is what women go through reduced to "being offended"?

8. Careful read - he isn't appologizing to the women
he is appologizing to "those I have offended"... I think he is appologizing to the religious right voters who were offended by reading his stories....

He doesn't appologize for his behavior. Just that some (not objects - would use a different wording for that) may have not liked hearing about his behavior.

I wouldn't put it that way.

You could put Bill in place of Arnold and America in place of California in your statement by that standard.

24. This is all so BIZARRE!!!
Arnold is an oversized body-builder who likes throwing his weight around by attacking, intimidating and humiliating women in particular. He has a L-O-N-G and well-documented history of this behaviour, which CLEARLY says something about his character. He is in NO WAY qualified to be governor and is also involved in shenanigans to RIP OFF the state.
WHAT IS NOT TO GET???

Oversexed Arnold Schwarzenegger Gets A handful Of British Talk Hosts!
"Riot Fuel" by Eightheadz, creator of 8BM.com During his promotional visit to Britain this week Arnold Schwarzenegger groped Denise Van Outen on the Big Breakfast and behaved in a similarly oversexed and over here fashion with a clearly panicked Melanie Sykes on ITV's Celebrity.

The Sun in England newspaper reports that Sykes was chatting with Arnold when, as cameras rolled, he grabbed her around the waist.
She pushed his hand away, saying: "Get your hands off me - I'm scared."

I don’t blame her. Any actor who excels at playing barbarians and robots and has trouble understanding English is not the kind of guy that I want to have to tell to get his hands off my ass.

Arnold Schwarzenegger: I'm da titty twister!

Arnold Schwarzenegger (December 11, 2000) If an incredible and amusing report coming out of the UK last week is true, we may finally know why Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger gets along so well with those randy Kennedy boys. According to British TV host Anna Richardson, the lecherous action star pulled her onto his knee at the end of an interview she was conducting with him, demanded to know if she'd had a boob job, then pinched one of her nipples.

It was a bit of a shock for the chesty host of the British television show Big Screen. She told the UK tabloid The Sun that the incident made her feel angry and embarrassed, but also a little helpless. "I wanted to say, 'You dirty bastard.' But you can’t tell a powerful man like him to fuck off."

"He kept saying how fantastic I looked and staring at my boobs," complained Richardson. "When I went to shake his hand he pulled me on to his knee, saying 'I really want to know if your breasts are real.'"
...Anna says she stood up then and told him "You’re making me nervous." But Arnold told her to relax and pulled her back on his knee. Finally, he let her up, and according to Anna, "patted my bum as I went off."

A TV insider who was among seven other people present for the interview backed up Anna’s claims: "Everyone was in shock. He appeared obsessed with Anna’s boobs." But Arnold's UK spokesman shrugged it off, telling The Sun, "I don’t know anything about this particular incident but Arnie is a big flirt, as is Anna.

That may be the case, but it's a hell of a way to charm a babe, and Arnold is a married man. So no one can say for sure if there will be any further repercussions, but given Anna's embarrassment and anger over the incident, this could well be the one time that Arnold won't be back.

Well, they are just allegations, which Bill & Arnold were both accused and both apoligized.

But the fact that these allegations are(and were) being used to destroy Bill & Arnold's political career tells me that there's something more behind them.

I mean, if these misdeeds are so heinous why do they only come out when election time rolls around.

29. Arnie groped a woman on live Breakfast TV in the UK.
I remember it. There was a thread with a picture in here yesterday.
He didn't just grope, he humiliated them.

I am pretty damn sure that the British Media is damn careful when it comes to interviewing Arnie as a result of these incidences.
I have explained on a thread below, that the problem with making an allegation is that it can define your career, if you are a woman in show business. Going up against one of the most powerful, richest men is Hollywood could destory them. All three of the women have successful careers.
These stories have been around in the British press before,it seems nobody has paid attention before.

Clinton approached certain women for consensual relationships. He considers women equals and has a history of governing that proves this.

Arnold randomly groped women for the purpose of making them feel like pieces of meat and humiliated. He has a history of sexist remarks and behavior.

Being sexual. Being sexist. Quite a difference.

7. No way. There is only proof of consensual affairs with Clinton.
A consensual affair is very different from a large guy grabbing at a woman's breast or behind or putting his tongue in her mouth with no permission. It's a terrible violation of a person's dignity.

They can't say squat about Clinton from now on.

It's perfect for Dems. Arnold takes the Republican facade of family values virtue down, win or lose.

And then he's probably going to lose also.

Please look up the definition of "sexual assault." You are stretching so far you're in danger of falling, all to take up for a Republican candidate on Democratic Underground.

These women Arnold humiliated have every right to be upset. You have no right to try to shut them up.

11. You are wrong and even if you weren't the repukes can't and won't see
the difference. They only see a winner and if he is a repuke, he can lie (bush), molest (arnold), steal (I can name about 100 of them but cheney is probably the best example of one in a highy elected office right now)and as long as you get the job it is a-okay. I hate what clinton did but there could have been no legal action against him but there sure could be for arnold. The big, big difference is who did and did not say yes.

13. he still claims "some" of the accusations are false - so when
... will he name the specific accusations that are true, and which are false? it's not enough to say that he did "some wrong" things. at the very least, he must state which wrong things he did, to reassure everyone that he NOW knows where to draw the line.

of course, he'll never do that. but this is what the dem response should be.

let him also state what specifically should be the punishment for a man (any man) who does what he did. let him state what new laws he'd push for to protect women from his kind of predatory behavior.

14. Ads are already running with the wives/daughters angle
and it ends with Ah-nold's quote about sticking women's faces in toilets.

It's powerful in its simplicity and it personalizes his actions...."what if one of those women was your wife, sister, or daughter?" is the sentiment conveyed. It should give many male voters pause for thought.....women already realize he's scum.

NO ON THE RECALL!

Remember, the KKK rose in numbers and strength when Reagan was in office. All it takes for the lowest and meanest among us to get permission to act on their sick beliefs is that someone high up in politics thinks the same way they do.

And Arnold's actions ARE criminal.

30. To me the big thing is his sexist attitude
Edited on Sun Oct-05-03 11:11 AM by Woodstock
I wouldn't want to overplay the hand. The hand we have to play is quite strong enough. He clearly sees women as pieces of meat. To me, one of the most disturbing things of all was the how often do you have a chance to shove a woman's head down the toilet bowl remark (this year.) Although what he did to the women was absolutely horrible, this statement says what is going on in his mind with awful clarity.

A government official who doesn't believe in the equality of men and women is unacceptable. Also, if someone treats women this way, he will likely treat anyone he deems "beneath him" that way, too - including minorities, the working class, etc.

35. To me his behaviour is that of a man that hates powerful women.
I saw a clip of that "debate" with Arianna Huffington, he made my skin crawl, it was sick. He throught he was being funny!!!
The three British interviewers are feisty, sexy and successful women.
Melaine Sykes is a loud, confident, northern woman it would take alot for her to say that that she was scared. This assualts happened infront of their colleagues, they know that any legal action could finish their careers. They know what a powerful Hollywood lawyer would do to them, they understand to something like that will mean every detail of their lives would be fair game to both our press and yours. They now that someone like Arnie would spend more that they lifetimes earnings on defence. (UK tv presenters do not earn anything like their equivalant in the US.) The only thing they can do is work and make sure that the British media is aware and that female interviewers know.

This lunchtime, I have spent time with friend that are teachers and the sexual harassment of female teachers by high school boys is serious problem, they are dealing with. It has made me feel really strongly about the issue and the question of Arnie's election.
That is another big difference between Arnie and Bill Clinton, Arnie is young boys hero and role model. Most (British) 14 year olds have not heard of Bill Clinton nor do they care.
