Karen Hughes starts her job: Says looters making the US look bad

"It's offensive to me to suggest that somehow, as I've seen some headlines and some reports do, that people, that Americans weren't helped because they are poor or because of their race," Hughes said. "That is anti-American. That is not what our country is about."

It is the images of post-storm crime that could do the most damage to the U.S. image abroad, according to Hughes.

All you need to do to clean up the universally poor view of America is to shoot looters and INSIST that there isn't racism in America.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports today that three Federal Emergency Mismanagement Agency contractors were arrested for looting in Plaquemines Parish.

The contractors were allowed to take food and drink from a Family Dollar Store, but they decided to take toys and clothing and loaded the cab of their truck.

know there is going to be a catastrophe, it would be a good job to be as close as possible to the scene....

He says they are being grossly exaggerated and that his department remained on the job, and received only TWO reports of ATTEMPTED rape, which they responded to at the Convention Center. No other 'rapes' have been verified.

As for crime, he says the people were calm, frustrated but the vast majority of them did absolutely nothing wrong, and the few incidents of crime are being completely taken out of proportion.
