How many earthquakes have there been recently?
I read of yet another one today. 7.3 on the richtor scale. :wow:

That makes, what, SIX major eathquakes since December 2004?!

Is that a usual number?

Or is it jiffy pop time? :tinfoilhat: :tinfoilhat: :tinfoilhat: :tinfoilhat:

1. Not that unusual but the 7.3 has spawned lots of teleseismic events

5. I don't see anything over a 3.0 in that map
Can you be more specific?

7. Just answered the question
How many earthquakes?

We get them every day. Yes, they are small. But they are a daily deal here. There was a 5.1 near San Diego last week, the last large one.

8. Sorry, I thought you were answering the "where was the 7.3?" question
I live in San Francisco, so I figured I'd have heard about a biggy here. :)

6. Wow -- I had read about the New Guinea quake yesterday
At that time it was reported to be a 7.3, which is major in itself. A 7.7 is a bad ass quake.

9. Look at how many big ones have happened around the world in the past week.

The recent ones are in red. The bigger the circle, the bigger the earthquake.
