Thoughts about CNN

Great to hear they're filing suit for 1st Amendment rights to cover all aspects of Katrina.

Seems to me that we've seen some interesting changes in their reporters too. I think the individual political viewpoints are becoming more evident. I've seen some (like Cooper) moving more in our direction, but others (like Phillips) becoming more protective of this administration.

Anyone else notice this?

1. Lou still keeps up the RW talking points. Once in a while he slips

up and mentions something like 'Both parties are selfing out to the Corporations'. When I hear that I have a flicker of hope.

5. Lou often blasts the Bush admin

Last night he didn't and went after dems for a bit, but it seems he dislikes politicians in general.

I often hear him ranting about how "the federal government" or "the bush administration" has "failed" to do this or that. Personally I think he's a straight shooter with good intentions for the most part. He seems concerned about the middle class.

7. I think he's pretty much a Platonist.

He knows that the masses, despite their particular kind of wisdom, are incapable of governing themselves directly, and he wants to make sure the "wisest and best" have the tools to do the job. I think that's why he's unwilling to give Moron Bush a total pass, although Lou will never trust the madding throng.

2. I was thinking the same thing

For the first time in the last few days, I believe we have seen a change in CNN. They are seeing that people are pissed and so accordingly they are doing more REAL reporting. This is an important time in history and they know it.

10. I forgot about him, but he's the one that has surprised me the most.

His comments have been brutally honest. Katrina has been a catalyst for these reporters and commenttors to sharpen their political perspective. I noticed it going in both directions, actually. In the past, it seemed like it was a lot more opaque.
