How you can tell the Reichwingers are in denial
Now when confronted wiht the abysmal poll numbers, they make sarcastic remarks about how concerned they are over Bush being re-elected.

What they refuse to face is the fact that this now affects the re-election of ALL Republicans

The pendulum reached its apex and has begun swinging the other direction.

2. I think when confronted they simply cannot admit defeat
but deep down there is no way in hell they can approve of the horrific response of their King George to Hurricane Katrina. NO WAY.

3. no, they can't AFFORD to admit defeat. Once it starts, everything they did
is subject to close scrutiny, sometimes, for the first time in the history of this admin.

Well, that has ended now. With the "demotion" of Brown back upstairs, they have admitted a flaw in their invincibility. At the same time, the press has recovered its taste of blood, and like a swarm starving of pirhana, with their newly-found spines, they are finding other chinks in the armor.

Stories that we have brought up here and elsewhere, complaints about idiotic moves, about lies and about fraud, will now be reviewed and reconsidered. New breaking stories about that and worse will now be taken seriously and Lil Ole Scottie will be laughed at by the formerly moribound WH press corpse.

There is a massive tidal shift occuring, and Bungle George and his merry pranksters are incapable of stopping it.

5. you make sense, antifaschits
indeed you do; I just wish I saw it with the people I work with - but then, perhaps I should stop using north Texas as the basis for anything. :o

6. For many of them, it's their religion that will need close scrutiny.
Their religion is so bad that they have lost their humanity and compassion. Dubya = their religion, to many of them.

7. hadn't thought of it, but there is a lot of truth to your observation
There have been other leaders who blinded their followers to the truth - this is but one group that has carefully honed their message and cultivated their power. It is a kind of religion, based on neocon principles.

They control the executive, the congress and the judiciary. Over the past 5 yrs, they removed professionals from executive and agency roles (Never believe that FEMA is the only victim. Just glance at the EPA and other agencies) with the intent of doing those agencies harm, or at least turning them into neocon fiefdoms.

WIth all of that control and power, have they succeeded? Hardly. America has woken up to an unpleasant fact. These people are incompetent, greedy, self-serving and very probably criminals. Even though some voices have been singing that tune for years, most of America was deaf to the warnings.

Strike 1 was the foul ups in advance of 9/11,
Strike 2 was the propaganda campaign to invade Iraq,
Strike 3 was the pathetic federal response resulting in death and destruction in the South. Even though I am no baseball fan, I'd call that an out.

8. They're Bound Up With Their Hypocrisies
It's like someone walks around with more chains and is boxing these assholes in further.

Now virtually anything you hear from these oxygen thieves is either in 180 opposition to what they previously said, passes the buck to another Repugnican (either being "duped" or not being "loyal enough") or is so off-the-wall racist, sexist, classist or just plain inhuman that it's alienating further from reality every day.

Walt, I don't know if this is sticking locally, yet...but I have confidence byproducts are starting to take effect. Call it "Bush fatigue". Be it higher gas and fuel prices, inflation (it's coming), unemployment or underemployment, outsourcing, immigration...the list goes on...there's a lot that can be used locally, but it's going to take smarts by the Democrats to find how each and every Senator or Congresscritter is complicit in these problems. Just putting an (R) and tossing mud won't do it (look at Ohio-2)...it'll be really connecting with voters and carefully giving them the safe harbor to escape from Repugnican hypocrisy.

If there was ever a time for the revival of the Progressive movement, the time is now. Bob Lafollette, where are you???

9. They put up a "Wall of Lies" and force everyone to talk only from them.
Otherwise known as "Talking Points". They are very aware.
