Question: Did Bush suspend the Posse Comitatus Act

when he sent the 82nd Airborne in or did he refrain from doing so?

Also, why did Bush feel he had to get Blanco's permission to "federalize" the Louisiana National Guard before ordering the 82nd Airborne into New Orleans?

2. Regular army troops can perform humanitarian missions...

no problem. AFAIK, the act applies to security / police-type missions.

4. I could be dead wrong

but I THINK that our troops can perform humanitarian missions on our own soil only within a 10-day window. That's why posse comitatus was suspended, wasn't it?

(Again, I don't know for sure.)

but he did suspend posse comitatus, maybe to get around the "10-day rule."
