In their own words: Hypocrisy from the 11 Republicans who voted "no"
Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 03:16 PM by TwoSparkles
These 11 Republicans VOTED AGAINST THE BILL WHICH WOULD PROVIDE THE FIRST CRITICAL MONEY TO THE VICTIMS OF HURRICANE KATRINA.

These same 11 Republicans voted FOR THE WAR IN IRAQ AND ALSO FOR SUBSEQUENT FUNDING OF THE WAR IN IRAQ.

Joe Barton, Texas; Jeff Flake, Arizona; Virginia Foxx, North Carolina;
Scott Garrett, New Jersey; John Hostettler, Indiana; Steve King, Iowa; Butch Otter, Idaho; Ron Paul, Texas; James Sensenbrenner, Wisconsin; Tom Tancredo, Colorado; Lynn Westmoreland, Georgia.

Read the quotes from these 12 Republicans--as they explain why they voted no on the hurricane Katrina bill. Then, and ask yourself...

Where were these same opinions and thought processes, when they cast their votes for the Iraq war and also for additional funding of the Iraq war?

BUTCH OTTER, R-IDAHO:
"'Do something now, even if it's wrong,' is as bad a policy for government. By approving this bill, Congress once again was rushing to act without seriously considering the consequences or alternatives."
http://www.idahostatesman.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID ...

JEFF FLAKE, R-ARIZONA:
"Congress has the responsibility to cut spending elsewhere if we are going to commit this amount of money," said Flake.

JOE BARTON, R-TEXAS:
There is no way that it has really been budgeted out and thoughtfully planned."

SCOTT GARRET, R-NEW JERSEY:
"Writing them a blank check and not being able to have oversight does not achieve that...if things go wrong and people don't get what they need, it's only going to be after the fact now that we can figure out what happened."

JAMES SENSENNBRENNER:
"Since this legislation lacks that accountability, I could not in good conscience vote for it."
http://www.madison.com/tct/mad/local//index.php?ntid=53 ...

STEVE KING, R-IOWA:
"Hurricane victims would be better served by having a clear plan on how the money would be spent."

1. Hall of Fame assholes and hypocrites.
I hope their constituents hold them accountable.

All republicans would vote this way if they thought they could get away with it.

2. That's right up there with Cheney voting against the school lunch program
along with seven other repukes, when he was the rep from his home state, er, I mean his other home state of Wyoming.

What's with Ron Paul voting No? I thought he'd been giving it to the repuke leadership pretty good...

4. Flake is from my state and if I lived in his district I would
run against him and be verbally beating his ass until he cried like the little wannabe girl he is.

Edited on Sat Sep-10-05 04:19 PM by slaveplanet
In the House, six Republicans -- Ron Paul of Texas; Connie Morella of Maryland; Jim Leach of Iowa; Amo Houghton of New York; John Hostettler of Indiana; and John Duncan of Tennessee -- joined 126 Democrats in voting against the Iraq war resolution.

Paul votes NO on everything...

and you can be sure he vote no on this too...probably because He's not liking what he sees...

Please edit your mistake

7. Looked it up...follow-up to my last message...
...he is in the 5th District, Sussex County area. Some freeper on a blog said that they were moving out of Hudson County (Jersey City area) because it was completely Blue, and moving to Sussex. I told them to go screw farm animals when they got there.

8. Read Between The Lines
And what they are really saying, with what appears to be a single voice, is that they need time to funnel any money appropriated to those interests which support them and avoid payouts to interests which oppose them. That is how it works and it is the only reason to wait for a more throughout, better planned, approach. These assholes haven't figured it out yet, that even if there seems to be good news on the TV it is still quite likely that SOMEONE DIED TODAY AS A RESULT OF KATRINA. Help will be needed later to be sure but immediate help is that the bill was for.
