Using Katrina to erode Civil Liberties: Parallels to Bush after 9/11
I thought it might be a good time to reflect on the fact that once again Bush is using a disaster to erode the Civil Liberties we once had in this country. We all know about the laws enacted after 9/11. Here is a quick list of what has happened after Katrina so far:
1. Seizing of privately registered guns in the hurricane area (contrary to 2nd amendment)
2. Breaking and strectching of the Posse Comitatus Act which prohibits the use of US military as an internal policing force.
3. An attempt to limit freedom of the press by banning coverage of body recovery efforts in New Orleans.
Anyone want to add to the list?
Just like 9/11 Bush is using the disaster pretext to move away from Democracy.
