I will not be paying any attention at all to the usual sanctimonious horseshit speeches about how "that day changed us all". Please.

It's perfectly reasonable to expect that 95% of Americans should be over it by now (I'll grant a waiver to those who lived in the affected areas and those who lost relatives on that day). But the sadder thing about 9/11 now is that is has been used for 4 years to justify everything from tax cuts for the rich, to the Iraq War to organizing a bullshit Homeland Security Department staffed by incompetent boobs. In the end, more people have suffered because of these developments, than suffered on that tragic day.
