chapter 7 seems to have a lot of text overlapping in parts, maybe I just need to update my acrobat reader though.

8. Alastair -- need to re-upload Chapter 7 tomorrow

It is one of the most important chapters, and the thing keeps corrupting -- the text flowed away from the graphics, and some text is altogether missing now. Some of my edits are missing too. I'll talk to David tomorrow -- this is driving me nuts; I printed the file and it was perfect, now it's slipping and sliding all over the place.

Well, live and learn. This may be because we are exporting from publishing software into pdf or something -- aarrgggh.

10. No, some of the text blocks cut off mid-stream

The graphics are weak onscreen, but reasonably crisp in the printout. That is definitely a function of the publishing software, which displays with poor screen resolution but prints at high resolution. The book is in layout for printing, though we still have a number of nitpicky edits (and I caught a few more not so nitpicky ones tonight.)

Most of the errors creep in when I do last minute changes after it already went through editing.

Some of the edits we did earlier are not in there -- most are. I don't get it.

And some of the material is just missing. Anyway, we'll fix it tomorrow.

I have just been reading it here with a techie over my shoulder... both of us have been chuckling and laughing at some bits..... and shaking our heads at others. How could the pieces of code on pg 143 have possibly been certified!!!!! Even though I know I already knew much of this stuff, to see it here in black and white is really kind of chilling.

And I am looking forward to the improved version. I suspect it will be just as shocking second time around.
