Rumsfeld: "Unfortunate..." if no WMDs in Iraq!
This is from last Thursday, when the Kay report was released. I hadn't seen these rumsfeld comments here, so I hope this isn't old news to everyone. Either way, its worth repeating, I think. We just murdered a few thousand people for nothing, for lies.

The man who six months ago said this:

snip:
We know where they are. They're in the area around Tikrit and Baghdad and east, west, south and north somewhat.
http://www.dod.gov/news/Mar2003/t03302003_t0330sdabcsteph.html

now says this:

snip:
Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld said Thursday "it will be unfortunate" if it turns out that intelligence used to justify the war in Iraq turns out to have been seriously flawed.

Rumsfeld, asked by reporters if he still believes such weapons will be found, said: "It's not clear that it was off by a little bit, or a mile, at this stage."

"If it is off by a lot, that will be unfortunate and then we'll know that."

1. Unfortunate
I'd say tragic. How many people did they murder to find these weapons?

2. a pure egomaniac, since for the entire world, its better if none are found
Edited on Sun Oct-05-03 10:04 AM by kodi
this is the bono fide attitude of the busheviks that what is good for them is a priori good for the world.

usually one finds this attitude in small children or psychopaths.

one does not usually find this attitude in elected officals and their minions in a democratic republic.

Add "unfortunate" to "untidiness." This man is scum. No, he makes scum look good. He's a cold-blooded murderer. I hope some day we can turn him over to an internation court as a war criminal.

6. I recall a Bush quote,
I think he was on his way to Africa, or had just gotten there. This was about the Niger Uranium bombshell. Bush was asked about the allegations about WMD's, in light of Ambassador Wilson's claims.

Bush waved his hand, dismissively and said something to the effect of, 'it doesn't really matter, because we rid the world of an evil dictator'.

What he was REALLY saying there was, "it didn't really matter how we did it, the most important thing was that we flushed Saddam Hussein".

To further paraphrase: "Since we knew what we were going to do all along, we were willing to do anything and everything to make it happen. OR: "the end justifies the means".

8. Wow -- to paraphrase Bartcop
I'm so old, I remember a time when a country undertaking a pre-emptive war of conquest and imperialism actually tried to have a reason for doing so. With these corrupt deathmongers, it's just another day at the office, raping and pillaging. Don't like it? Tough.

Well . . . what are you going to do about it?

11. My first and only shameless kick of my own post
This just bothers the hell out of me. I don't know what to do about it, other than do all I can to throw these thugs out of office.

But this is huge, far more huge than US politics. This is humanity. And inhumanity. How can the human race tolerate such crimes? How can we sweep this under the rug and shrug our shoulders as we wave the flag and say "9*11, 9*11!"

I have never seen a case of evil men doing evil things on as grand a scale imaginable. "It would be unfortunate..."

Yeah, it would be unfortunate if these thugs think they'll get away with this. Humanity cannot let this simply pass.

Sorry to bump my own post, but damn - look how they're just trying to slide this under the radar. Murderous bastards.

13. Here's what you CAN do about it:
First thing in the morning, call the TOLL FREE Capitol Hill Switchboard -

1 (800) 839 - 5276

1 (800) 648 - 3516

They will switch you to whatever House or Senate office you want. When the call goes through, DEMAND a special prosecutor. MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You've GOT to do this! It doesn't cost anything! Call your two senators and your congressperson. You don't even have to stay on the phone that long, so it doesn't have to eat into a lot of your time. ALSO, TRY to call at least one rethug. They, more than anybody else, need to hear how much opposition there is to this CLEAR appearance of Conflict of Interest. Remind them of the polls. Remind them that this is our national security which has been compromised. They need to be pounded over the head about this.
