and Groper become the Governor, who would dems put on the ticket after they petition to recall Groper. Feinstein? Panetta?

I can't imagine any difficulty in getting the requisite signatures. But I do imagine the first thing that the California Legislature will do once Arnold is installed will be to push through legislation to kill the recall law. My guess is that there will be a race to gather and certify signatures before the recall law can be repealed.

Is there an infrastructure already in place to undertake the task?

If Arnold wins he will get less votes than Davis. Look for Arnold to raise taxes. Look for consertives will begin a recall. Arnold will be recalled and Dem's regain governorship by 2004.

However, I will stick by my intial prediction and say Davis beats the recall.

First, Ahnold has to confront two houses and an executive that are controlled by the Democrats...and they're not going to play pink tutu like we saw in Washington.

A great point is Ahnold will probably "win" with less percentage vs. the "no" to retain Davis...meaning the Gropinator could win in the 25-30% of the vote cast range, vs. Davis getting at least 45% to stay as governor. There's a definite legitimacy issue...as well as the entire re-call matter. It won't go away.

I don't want to see an Ahnold re-call, but just let him twist in the mess he's already brought with him and the mess he's sure to make in Sacramento. Sorry, Cal-E-Fornia folks, if this is what you folks voted for, you have to deal with it. If there is a re-call I'd see it coming after the 2004 elections.

It's just sickening to see that the real message of how our electoral system and individual voting rights are being screwed around with...and these crooks are getting away with it.

In essence, the votes of those voting Republican are valued more than votes to the democratic "candidate." I can't imagine this not being challenged on equal protection, due process, and first amendment grounds.

Even so, I want to see asimultaneous effort to recall Gropinator should he win.

I really think a second recall would fail, if nothing else because the California people would (methinks) be sick of it all. In fact, I think it would hurt the Democrats' image. Right now, we can make the case that the recall (successful or not) was a partisan power grab. But if we initiate one as well, we can't claim that high road.

Besides, if Schwarzenegger won, there would be a weak Republican governor on whom the citizenry could blame their problems. I think I could wait till the next election to give him the boot.

First, I think Davis will probably not be recalled.

However, if he is recalled, and the recall no vote is 45%+, then Arnold will get thrown out in a subsequent recall. You only need to get another 5% from the following groups:

1. Yes recall, McClintock.
2. Yes recall, Bustamante
3. Yes recall, Scwarzenegger (mind changers)
4. ...

Regardless, this won't hurt Dems. It will hurt Bush.
