Why is * losing his base?
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 04:31 AM by Skidmore
Is it because they truly see the injustice of his policies? Or, is it because death is the great equalizer and they simply fear that if they were in a similar disaster they are on their own? I tend to think that the fear factor is ascendant. Am I just too cynical these days?

the demands of full time greed. I figure they've either looking for their next candidate or have already found him/her.

I'm sure they're planning on Roberts' ascension to help them.

they were changing party affiliations. One from repuke to independent, the other from repuke to Democratic. Said they couldn't believe how badly he screwed up NOLA and both said they were "embarrassed to be republicans". They see him as incompetent (duh).

3. Well a lot of his red-neck base lives
in LA and MS and expected * to take care of them after the storm. It's not like he turned his back on LIBERAL California.

4. Unfortunately, I'm not sure that he is. Maybe he's getting criticism
temporarily from his base, but most will return to the fold after enough time passes - say 2-3 weeks. I do think that he's lost much of the glamour that he inexplicably has had for so many, though.

6. I agree - his base is the sheep who think he's a "down-home"
"Christian gentleman" who upholds their values - he will NEVER lose them, no matter what happens.

What he's losing is old-style Republicans who may be classed as fiscally conservative but socially moderate - certainly not the extremist fundamentalist of the Pat Robertson mold. These people just can't yet bring themselves to vote Democratic - they apparently need more horror and deficits and corruption.

8. It's a COMBO of all those
I think Conservative America is no loner drinking the kool-aid, but rather these last few days has had a double shot of expresso and are starting to wake to the reality of the consequence of putting this "tard" in office.

10. I didn't get to see that show. I wish I had been able to.
I'm glad your daughter has gotten to see the callousness of this individual.
