Mo Dowd doesn't know the difference between Consensual and Assault
Today's column she tried to compare Clinton's affairs with willing partners to Arnold's physical assaults. She's pathetic.

1. Well,
To be fair to Ms. Dowd she is probably referring to Jones, wiley and Broderick, although I did not read her column. Is that a possibility?

3. The poster said affairs
but I didn't read the column, either. BTW, welcome to DU.

4. Bill's were all consensual affairs...
Wiley was discredited by the Starr report of all things.
Broderick signed an affidavit denying anything happening (besides an affair).
Paula Jones...well, she knew she was playing a groupee when the State Police set her up.

9. Really
But these sound like the same kind of women and the same kind of accusations coming from all these women. They knew who he was when they got around him. This kind of stuff is unworthy of debate.

I saw Jones, wiley and Broderick and they seem credible to me on the face of it.

13. The women "around him" were either working
on a set or minding their own businesses when he
assaulted them
I am sure plenty of women have gladly approached
Arnold when his wife isn't around, but these women
were humiliated by a powerful man who knew he
could get away with abusing his power and status.

This is about power, not about sex.

Your comments sound pro-Arnold right now. Do you
want to comment more about your position on Arnold's
actions?

15. The three women mentioned above have credibility problems
if you examine their stories, which have changed repeatedly, their motivations, etc. I don't know enough about the Arnold women, except there appears to be no left-wing version of the VRWC tracking them down.

17. Buh-bye, maybe. FreeRepublic and be found to the right.

If you can't find it on your own.

"Even if you swear that you're going to vote against the recall, we still have no interest in hearing how you "admire" our opponents or how you feel "ashamed" about attacks against them."

Damn, that was fast! Buh-bye, indeed!

7. No benefit of the doubt, Dowd can't hide her whoring in this one.
She's another fake moderate, like Tweety, Juan Williams, Thomas Friedman, that guy on "Meet the Prositute", etc. When push comes to shove, it's not a voice of reason she lends, but a push over the top in legitimacy for criminals like Bush and Arnie at the expense of good but easily ridiculed guys like Al Gore and Gray Davis.

18. She's not a Bush apologist, just a loose cannon
Who shoots from the lip without giving it much thought or any research. She's more a humorist than a pundit. It can be a lot of fun when she tears into someone who deserves it, but she's not that particular. She savaged Clinton for years, and she's not about to admit that she was wrong now. A lot of writers in that time and of that kind were angry with Clinton not because of the sex or on behalf of the American people but because he tried to deny them a juicy story.

To be fair, she should have read "The Hunting of the President"...
...by Joe Conason and Gene Lyons. Then she would have know that Clinton's accusers were paid quite a bit of money to tell their "stories", and that their "stories" were debunked when they actually had to give a sworn affadavit and/or deposition.

I don't get the same sense of subterfuge from Arnold's victims.

2. She's also using Kathleen Willey and Paula Jones.
Whose stories of sexual abuse are highly suspect. It's amazing, especially in the case of Willey, whose account is completely bogus, and also in the behavior of Jones after the event, that Dowd hasn't seemed to dig any deeper than the original scandal headlines raked up on Drudge.

5. What's ironic is, now the GOP has to defend someone
whose behavior is at least as bad as Clinton's.

10. Don't worry, I'm not defending Arnie
but this whole thing has to be a huge embarrassment for the GOP.

8. Ms. Dowd did disappoint today
She should have pointed out that Arnold's assaults on
women are punishable by law in California instead
of trying to compare them consensual affairs.

11. Anyone have a contact # or e-mail?
Maybe someone could send her a copy of the CA statute about assault and a copy of the Starr report.
