Arnie's apologists of the female persuasion: in denial or worse?
By worse, I mean, is there some sort of subconscious programming in their thinking that makes it impossible to see the distinction between "consensual" and a degree of force? Impossible to understand why this is not a desirable trait in the leader of the fourth-largest economy in the entire world?

Even the VAST majority of men get this quite easily, yet (pardon the assumption) I doubt they or their buds have ever been groped.

The mind boggles at this, and far worse, I am truly :scared: .

1. Its just typical thinking for conservative women
That, or course, is coming from the viewpoint of a liberal man, so its a bit of an assumption.

But it seems to me that conservative women are trained to be consumers, housewives, and objects.

2. See my thread about the NFL and it's objectification of women
Unfortunately it's widly accepted in our culture. So much so that women don't even realize the boundaries at times.

Sad indeed.

3. Women have often been their own worst enemies.

Some women don't "get it" until sexual assault or other misfortune happens to them.

4. as there are self loathers among men, so there are among
women. I can only hold to one standard: Would I feel the same way if this happened to my daughter? If you asked this ignorant witches that question, you might elicit another answer. If they would answer it. We are in the age of incivility.

5. class ties are stronger than gender ties
Most (all?) of the women Arnold groped were working women, i.e. women who feared economic retribution if they protested over Arnold's groping.

I'd imagine the Republican women who support Arnold have never been in that kind of economic dependency where they could lose their job by protesting, esp. if many have either never had jobs or were professional. And since they're Republicans, they may likely sneer at working women anyway.

6. Excellent point.
I hadn't considered that. Your idea explains a lot, though.

'"Nice women" (housewives) don't get sexually harrassed.' Remember that one?

7. Many Repug women (and men) believe that all women are
manipulative game players. Therefore, those who complain about being groped probably are lying, or are sore losers at the game. ("those women probably were trying to get publicity or $", etc.) If you are good at playing the game, they "reason", nothing unwanted every happens to you, so those who are harmed brought it on themselves. It is a very weird rationalization but I have often heard it expressed. It appears to me that these people really do not understand that they are projecting their own lying deceitful manipulative practices onto others who are not engaging in them.
