Wilson: CIA Leak Endangered Wife's Life

WASHINGTON - The former diplomat whose wife's identity as a CIA officer was disclosed by the Bush administration said Sunday that the leak has put her life in danger, and the government is not protecting her.

"There have been a number of other people who've come out and suggested that perhaps this does make her a target," Joseph Wilson said.

"We, of course, as a consequence of that, have begun to rethink our own security posture," he told CBS' "Face the Nation."

Shortly after Wilson published an article challenging the administration's rationale for war in Iraq, syndicated columnist Robert Novak identified Wilson's wife as a CIA operative.

1. It galls me
that Chuch Hagel has to come to her defense like that, but I'm at least glad he's speaking up.

8. Did Chuckie boy call for an independent investigation or something?
When he does that I say he deserves a pat on the back. Until then he is no better than any of them.

2. This is shocking and unnacceptable

I had naturally assumed that by now she and her family would be receiving security. This is inconceivable that they are not being protected.

I had partook in a thread yesterday where Jiacinto asked if she was in danger. I was wrong to answer that she was relatively safe in this country. That answer was under the presumption she and her family were being protected. Honestly, I have to believe that they already have SOME protection, probably non-official. But this is shocking beyond beleif.

5. I pondered in a thread yesterday if Novak felt like as ass
for doing the dirty work of the white house. Sadly he answered my question (on MTP) he doesn't care and would do it all over again. His only regret was that he used the word "operative". I hope that scumbag goes down hard and that his credibility is always suspect from here on out. The shame of him for starting this whole mess and endangering peoples lives. Karma, work your magic.

7. Wouldn't you think
that the Wilson's have Ex CIA friends, like Johnson, or the 4 men on Nightline, who would be offering their services for protecting them and their children? I would hope so. If the CIA is as close knit as they say, I would think someone is helping them.

9. I suspect there would be "unofficial" protection by members of...
the CIA. The Bush admin CAN'T offer official protection because that would be an admission that the leak was the serious treason that it is! I think that is the point that is being made by Mr. Wilson. The Bush admin would rather continue to risk this family's safety than even do the smallest thing to protect them. I really need to keep my thesaurus handy, disgusting is not descriptive enough!
