You look at the Rolling Stones, who, in spite of essentially being a museum piece these days, have managed to put out some good stuff way beyond their heyday.

One thing's for sure--if the Beatles hadn't broken up when they did, their place in music history would be much different. Imagine the effect of a Beatles disco period, or of a permanent Beatles show in Vegas.

As much as you can say, "I love the Beatles, I wish they hadn't broken up", even by the time Abbey Road came out, they were recording a lot of their stuff individually.

It's really amazing that these albums exist and that for the time we had them they were the greatest.
