F*** ANY investigation--here's how to make a difference:
Edited on Tue Sep-13-05 06:45 PM by blondeatlast
Let the victims and first responders speak to experts in the fields involved--engineering, transportation, police, fire, housing, social work, etc.

Forget an "investigation"--let those who experienced it and those who can make use of those experiences actually accomplish something by working together.

I want to hear smart people in the fields of emergency management, engineering, medicine, logistics, transportation, police, etc. talk to victims and first responders of Katrina's aftermath. Let those with the knowledge pose the questions instead of those with an agenda.

Under the best of circumstances, a Washington-led commission won't make a difference.

Just once, let the people speak truth to those who know their stuff and can offer us real solutions.

I don't know how to make it a reality, but this would really restore my faith that Washington does give a damn--enough that they will push aside egos and agendas to make a real difference.

Can't help it--I'm a practical optimist.

5. i have a buddy who is the poster child for stem cell research
he had therapy from cells taken from his twin brother and has survived cancer that would have killed him. he is a huge supporter, naturally, and keeps himself aware of all the new research. his number one complaint... this is not an abortion issue. saying no to stem cell research puts the kibosh on the whole program, not just embryonic stem cell research.

don't get me started.

oh... never mind:)

3. This is a very rational and very mature proposal.
I wish rationality and maturity were virtues valued in washington.

4. Nope....let's make this The Investigation
It will cover KatrinaGate and go further into why funding was cut while taxes were cut for the top 2%. Additionally, investigate how Halliburton got the contracts and take that back into the no-bid contracts in Iraq. Expose Cheney for war profiteering...Bush for treason...

9. What if it doesn't happen?
What if it's too late? I'm just looking for something to grab onto. I think it's all tied up. One big global Mafia.

10. F*** investigations? Have you lost your mind?
Really, I have to ask.

These people are poor, broke, and screwed up. They're going to be kept in literal internment camps for up to five years and there's no way in hell that Bush or any one of his cronies are going to come down and talk to anyone except actors and cameras.

I'm "sorry" to sound so harsh, but you need to check back into reality.

If we don't continue investigations you might as well go out back behind your house and snuff yourself, this country will be RIP if we give in and give up.

11. Good idea and
some have said that this is an area that Michael Moore is thinking of helping in.

Otherwise, I imagine you're thinking that a group of journalists, or a Moveon, a 60 minutes, or (once again) a hearing of congressional democrats would organize to interview experts and publish a summary document?

I like it. Don't wait to let others craft findings and relieve pressure....take the B*sh by the horns...
