BBV: 208 to Go??? Your help needed.

One of the go-getters on my mailing list got the issue on MoveOn, and it's enjoyed some success. People ARE interested in it. But we need to push it a bit. Please go vote. It would be SO helpful if MoveOn were to pick this up.

On the MoveOn ActionForum, our action on computerized voting has shifted from the #1 position to #3. There have been 92 total responses; 84 agree and 8 disagree.

The issues that have moved ahead of ours are also of vital importance. However, without success in our action we will likely lose our representative democracy. This has to stay a #1 priority.

The average importance scores, with 1 being the lowest, are:

6% - 1 stars
0% - 2 stars
6% - 3 stars
7% - 4 stars
79% - 5 stars

Thanks to all who voted. For those who haven't yet, please take the time to do so today, enlist your your friends and family, and send emails to your lists. We may not all agree on the shape of the ideal fixes for these computerized voting systems, but those details can be worked out later, once we have mass visibility.

Voting in this forum is a smallaction that we can all take which could make an enormous difference in getting this issue into the national spotlight. It also gives our movement a place for a "blog-like" conversation that has international visibility!

Note: I'm not certain this is true, but one of the responders said that it takes 300 responses to move this into a MoveOn action. If that's so, we have 208 to go!!

This keeps me from posting there. I have good reasons for this caution. I am proud to be associated with the group, and I do a lot of the action stuff. I just do not want my name, occupation and city on the forum. I don't like to do that.

Otherwise I would vote.

He'd never heard of MoveOn. Come-on folks, push this number up. MoveOn now has 112 members who have supported the issue. Email all your friends and tell them about this.

If you haven't ever compiled your own "action" email list, you should do so now. A while back I put together the email addresses of my more progressive and moderate friends. Every so often I broadcast to them little progressive snippets, thoughts, and/or links. It's a good idea to put the list in the blind carbon copy field. In compuserve (and probably AOL) you do this by listing the email addresses in the CC field, but in parenthesis (). Microsoft Outlook as a separate BCC field.

If just two of your friends sign on to support the action at MoveOn, and those same two broadcast an email to THEIR friends, and that happened each day (i.e., two people on your two friends' email lists sign on and also rebroadcast the email, etc.), then in 10 days 1024 more people would have indicated their support for this issue on MoveOn.

So get to it!
