Interesting recall side effects: Clinton calls!
Last night it was Sharon Davis. I answered the phone and got a recorded message: "Hello, this is Sharon Davis." etc...

I spent half the message trying to figure out why she was against the recall until finally my poor tired brain kicked in: Sharon Davis. My state assembly rep is Sharon Runner. And Sharon Runner supports the recall fervently, including a huge viewpoint column in this am's paper.

Then, 5 minutes ago, the phone rang again. I picked it up to here, "Hello, this is Bill Clinton." My jaw dropped, and I listened carefully to the recorded message.

I was voting no anyway. But now I can say TBD called.

We're coming down to the wire. It looks close, but doable. If we could get Palast's Wilson/Enron/Lay/Arnold connection in the mainstream media, I think we could clinch it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. And printing a copy of Palast's article to take to work tomorrow.

8. Me too! :(
I can only hope that in a few years he will be remembered as the best president and not the guy who got a bj.

2. Make a couple of hundred copies and take it to your polling places
It's not electioneering because you're not telling anyone who to vote for!

http://www.gregpalast.com/detail.cfm?artid=283&row=0

...It turns out that Schwarzenegger knowingly joined the hush-hush encounter as part of a campaign to sabotage a Davis-Bustamante plan to make Enron and other power pirates then ravaging California pay back the $9 billion in illicit profits they carried off.

...One month after Cruz brings suit, Enron's Lay calls an emergency secret meeting in L.A. of his political buck-buddies, including Arnold.

...the Bush commissioners cook up a terrific scheme: charge the companies with conspiracy but offer them, behind closed doors, deals in which they have to pay only two cents on each dollar they filched.

Problem: the slap-on-the-wrist refunds won't sail if the Governor of California won't play along. Solution: Re-call the Governor...

5. Oh, it's electioneering all right
It's bringing campaign materials ( as definied by the polling officer) which disclose a side, position, or material fact germane to the ballot.

It's also a judgement call by the poll officer.

Don't do it.

6. It's electioneering ONLY if it's done within a certain number of feet of
the entrance to the polling place. In Chicago it's 50 feet, which isn't much at all. Check with anyone working in the election to find out what the law is and then stay slightly beyond that boundary when passing out the articles.

4. You're lucky cause
I keep getting calls left on my machine from the groper. :puke: :puke: :puke: I guess it is because years ago I had someone living here who was a registered repug (they just it did to see what kind of mail they would get) though they always voted Democratic.

9. I had a fantasy about that Enron information.
First let me say I am jealous about your call from Big Dog! I got a call from Karena Gore once and thought that was pretty cool.

But anyway, my fantasy is that Gore or Clinton calls a news conference and explains in plan language what the connection is. Of course they probably can't do it without proof that Chester Molester promised Ken Lay something, but still I think they can lay out a pretty damning case for this being another sleazy hit at democracy by the right wing.

11. If someone would just say something
in the mainstream media, I'd be thrilled.

Meanwhile, I'll keep the phone nearby. Who knows who might call next.
