"someday an independent California"

Those of us who live here like being part of the U.S. just fine, thanks.

13. It doesn't work like that.

We didn't let the slave states go wander off and form a new nation, did we? Bush will be gone soon enough, and we'll still be Americans. I want to be part of a diverse nation, complete with the traditions of the South, the history and frenetic pace of the East, the individualism of the West, and the industriousness of the Midwest.

We don't cut and run, we take back what is ours and ensure that freedom and opportunity is available to all. That flag represents you and me just as much as it represents Bush, and I won't give it up just because he's trying to co-opt it!

fuck no = We cut them loose- who fucking needs the lot of 'm. Glad you are so sure the spineless Democrats are gonna win anything back. Theocracy here we come. The pukes are so bad, if we had leadership with balls, it would be a piece of cake. We don't. I don't give a shit about anything that happens in places like OK. AL, and the rest of the slave states

5. Great Lakes states are ready to go, eh?
We already got the clothes, half of us got the accent, we already play hockey, we got cheese and brats -- Milwaukee's beer makers can LEARN to make decent beer again -- we're a great deal! Plus much of the fresh water on the continent....

We've all been talking this over. MN, WI, and MI as a package deal.

10. There are a LOT of Latinos and Latinas
Edited on Thu Sep-15-05 10:37 PM by Canadian Socialist
here in Calgary. I married one (Latino from Peru). In most Canadian cities there is a very large active Latino community. Even such places as Winnipeg (I found the most amazing latino neighbourhood there about 4 years ago - wasn't there 20 years ago... but now... thriving). I love latinos... Cinquo du Maio (sp?) is one of my favourite holidays.

8. Why? Bush is temporary, your flag belongs to your country.
I don't exactly "get" the gist of this thread...

subliminal: California is being trated unfaifly.
I do not share your optimism, Bush may go, Dems will not win shit. They are leaderless and cowardly.

14. My apologies. I didn't know it was Mexican Independence Day.
Makes sense now. And that wasn't my "optimism": I just hate thinking Bush is powerful and/or permanent enough to warrant any major "flag" statement.

Hell. I'm not even American. But I know there's a line in the US national anthem that states: "And the flag was still there", or something like that...

Adios.
