Are we have being SCROOGED?
This week, we have been visited by two ghosts. The ghost of the past, who brings us the reminders of the injustices that this country exploited in it's infancy and the dead of blivet**'s first "vacation mishap". The Ghost of the Past.

This week we have been treated to speeches and pundits and power struggles between those with the power and those that want to do the right thing and help our citizens survive. We have seen how the past has led us to where we are now and we can sleep no more without tear stained pillows for decades of ignoring the cries of the powerless and the people made all but invisible by the media for the years of blivet's** reign of terror. We heard plenty about the haves and have mores, but hardly a word about the have nots. The Ghost of the Present.

Last night, we were treated to a visit by the Ghost of the Future. The story this ghost told being the scariest of all. This ghost told us of things that could be, if we don't change our ways of thinking and acting. Things that mean more suffering for the have nots, less room at the table for the locals with skills to help themselves and their community (even though the lip service was there, the contracts certainly aren't), and of expansive housing projects to encapsulate the problems yet again. blivet** had his "40 acres and a mule" moment last night. It sounds good on the surface, but let's face it, it didn't work out too equitiably the first time we tried it. Just as the Native Americans if they benefited from that plan before.

Will we be able to wake from these hauntings and change the course of things or will we be a "Sunday go to meeting" country that forgets all of the lessons on the other days of the week?

Scrooge had his problems, but he saw the error of his ways and changed the outlook presented by the Ghost of the Future. Can we do the same for a country that so needs to believe that we deserve a better future for all of our citizens? Does anyone really believe that our Scrooge (blivet**) has woken from the nightmare he has placed us in? Scrooge grew a conscience. I am not sure blivet** even knows what one is.

But, some of us do. How do we change our future if they think a speech and a few trailers will fix the problems?

I know I am rambling, but I need to believe that we turned a corner last night and that we can have a more comforting picture than the one that was presented last night during the speech of the Ghost of the Future at the haunted mansion last night.

Thanks for listening.
