Start your phone calls, emails & snail mails - Demand Jimmy Carter oversee
the reconstruction of New Orleans.

Why?

Three words: Habitat for Humanity.

Rove knows nothing but how to steal.

7. besides...
they are trying a similar approach with Clinton..... Jimmy and his friends have a real reputation and experience... of course that in reference to home building in LA, MS and AL.

I just hope the Corps of Engineers will get themeselves back into shape.... no doubt they will be involved with the massive relationship between the city and their waterways...

We REALLY need to make an argument that if the government couldn't be trusted to fund the levees, then why should it be in charge of the whole kit n' caboodle... we've got them where we want them. Oh yeah tand that BS about repealing the Davis BAcon... to cheat peoepl out of prevailing wages, ask the big contractors to cut out the stealing....

And the Chimperor even gains points for his first intelligent act as President.

25. Jimmy and Ford were on a commission regarding our elections . . .
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 12:18 AM by snot
Jimmy published something to effect that our elections did not meet the standards that his foundation applies in monitoring elections in other countries . . . then he resigned from the commission, and I never heard another word about it from him, although maybe I missed something, but it's not like I wasn't looking for it, since elections were my main preoccupation for many months following Nov. 2004.

I'm a big Jimmy fan, but I've felt him to be another Dem curiously MIA lately . . .

19. I support Habitat, they're doing a great job
...of getting affordable housing to people, with good financing terms and low payments. I got an "emergency dispatch" from them, asking for more money to help rebuild and repair the habitat homes in the Gulf Coast region. I sent them enough money that I'm going to be eating Cajun for the rest of the month (Beans and rice, baby!).

I'm not a Christian, but I do appreciate those organizations that live up to their beliefs. Habitat is one of the few who "practice what they preach." For that, they have my wholehearted support.

20. We can demand all we want. BushCo has no use for Jimmy Carter
'cause he's got this strange addiction to the truth!

And ever since he said something negative about Little Bushie, this WH won't invite him anywhere or give him the time of day.

22. I sent Jimmy $1 from my piggybank when I was eight to offset...
The national debt...

He sent me back the dollar, a letter explaining why he couldn't take it, and a book about what it's like to be the president.

God Bless Jimmy Carter.

Say, my daughter is eight. I should get her to send Bushie a dollar to see what happens.

28. Can't take donations from private citizens to offset the national debt...
Some technical glitch to keep private citizens from funding the government. A little thing, really.

29. Great idea!
The only money I have contributed toward Katrina is to Habitat for Humanity. I don't trust ANY of the others!

I'd be okay if it were a panel of former presidents: Clinton, Bush, Carter and Ford. Clinton and Carter would put their heart and soul into it...Bush would be a slacker...Ford, by the time they pried him out of retirement, the reconstruction would be done.

30. I don't think Jimmy would take it, and I do not like the idea
Why?

He is getting old. It is a hard job for a young guy.

This administration is full of thieves and blame gamers. His legacy is intact; why fuck it up by mucking about with those bastards, and presenting a target for them to smear when they start robbing the treasury blind?

He can do plenty of good INDEPENDENTLY of those bums. And I have no doubt that HFH will do plenty of good on their own without marrying into the Bush clan.

Bush refused to give him a lift on AF1 to go to the funeral of HIS FRIEND, Pope John Paul II.

I think he'd rather cut his own dick off than have anything to do with those bastards.
