Schwarzenegger says WILL Seek Re-Election

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed an open secret Friday, telling supporters that he's running for re-election next year — an early announcement designed to re-energize his sagging political momentum with the vitality that swept him into office.

"I'm going to follow through with this here. I'm not in here for three years. We're going to finish the job. I'm in here for seven years," he told an enthusiastic crowd of about 200 invited guests.

Schwarzenegger has hinted as much for weeks, saying as recently as Wednesday that he wanted to stay and fix the "broken system" of state government. Privately, advisers have urged the embattled Republican governor to declare for months, though the election isn't until November 2006, three years after he arrived in Sacramento following the historic recall of Gray Davis.

1. Don't count him out
I still remeber Pete Wilson weaseling his way back to reelection in 1994.

His numbers dropped into the 20's, but he was given the greatest blessing one could ask for: Kathleen Brown for an opponent.

4. I'm going to pump you up, you girlie men.
So does that mean that we are going to see him on Jay Leno again telling everyone that he is going to go to Sacramento and "I'm going to pump up Sacramento." Then is he going to claim that democrats are all "girlie men."

6. Never gonna happen
Ahnuld has gotten nothing but bad press here for the past year. Everywhere he goes, the nurses and the teachers are there protesting, and boo'ing. People are as sick of him as they are of Bush.

7. It will not be the same as the recall, thankfully
In that race he had the benefit of a crappy incumbent with a lousy recall opponent (Bustamante) and only had three months to campaign, not enough time to do any scrutiny against his agenda. This time we have a year and half to inform the people that he is an Enron shill and wants to waste tax payer's money on special elections.

8. Starting early - good for us
He will probably lose any bump he gets early.
He already started off today talking about getting rid of those bad teachers, so he still hasn't got a clue about why he's so despised.
