How many know that the "Pledge" was created by a SOCIALIST....
Somehow that fact escaped my public education. Why?

15. Me too! Even back in the '50s,
(graduated HS in ‘60) I was verbally chastised for not doing the pledge or the prayer, and never took a turn at the ritual bible reading.
