Bush said he would cut unnecessary spending so he wouldn't
have to raise taxes... My question is this: if the spending was unneccessary, why were we spending the money before? Why didn't you cut the money you were spending so the country could have a little more money and a little less debt?

Oy, RW logic escapes me...

1. Because unneccessary spending is:
welfare
food stamps
medicare
medicaid

At least, that's what it is to the RWers.

4. No RW logic exists: it's all ideology and smoke and mirrors and lies
and misleading and duplicity and mendacity and hypocrisy and sanctimony and reichousness.

7. DeLay declares 'victory' in war on budget fat
WASHINGTON -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said yesterday that Republicans have done so well in cutting spending that he declared an "ongoing victory," and said there is simply no fat left to cut in the federal budget.

Mr. DeLay was defending Republicans' choice to borrow money and add to this year's expected $331 billion deficit to pay for Hurricane Katrina relief. Some Republicans have said Congress should make cuts in other areas, but Mr. DeLay said that doesn't seem possible.

"My answer to those that want to offset the spending is sure, bring me the offsets, I'll be glad to do it. But nobody has been able to come up with any yet," the Texas Republican told reporters at his weekly briefing.

Asked if that meant the government was running at peak efficiency, Mr. DeLay said, "Yes, after 11 years of Republican majority we've pared it down pretty good."

8. This problem was caused by his CUTS to necessary spending,
Edited on Sat Sep-17-05 11:21 AM by Marr
in favor of spending money on an unnecessary occupation in Iraq. The levees weren't properly funded because there isn't enough money to maintain our country's infrastructure, *and* fund the neocon agenda.

They're going to use the Katrina disaster to do what they always do; hand money to their crony corporations and cut necessary social programs. He's going to use this as an argument for privatizing Social Security- you just watch.
