South Florida Sun- Sentinel: Cheaters Get "Easy Money" from FEMA
Edited on Sun Sep-18-05 01:00 PM by nvliberal
The federal government's handling of the Hurricane Katrina catastrophe is only the latest bungling in a national disaster-response system that for years has been fraught with waste and fraud.

A South Florida Sun-Sentinel investigation has found that the Federal Emergency Management Agency in five years poured at least $330 million into communities -- most of them poor, inner-city neighborhoods -- that were spared the devastating effects of fires, hurricanes, floods and tornadoes that had struck nearby.

3. People need to see this.
I was going to post it on LBN, but as a newbie (but longtime lurker) I was afraid it would get locked over there.

4. Well the general story keeps coming up now and then but DU moves so fast
that it's hard to keep things floating or know how many people have bothered to read about it.

6. See what? More stereotypes about poor people?
As always, big welfare and hand-outs to the rich gets no mention while people obsess on whether or not a poor person "cheated" the system for a couple of hundred dollars :grr:

No where in that piece of shit for an article did it mention all of the BIG handouts to the WEALTHY who were unaffected by hurricanes in Miami-Dade County after last years hurricanes.

I am so sick of this kind of bigotry :grr:

what I like to read is some feedback on this.

I was thinking the same thing, but there are also more articles in the series on the second link.

And this story about Los Angeles might be even more offensive:
