BEIJING - Monday will be the last day of talks over North Korea’s nuclear weapons program regardless of the outcome, chief US envoy Christopher Hill said.

“This is definitely the last day of this, and so I suspect it will be over in a matter of hours,” he told reporters as he left his hotel for a scheduled plenary session after seven days of negotiations.

However, China’s state-run Xinhua news agency later reported the plenary, which had been due to start at 8:30 am (0030 GMT) had been postponed. No reason was given. snip

Failure to settle the dispute could force Washington to take the issue to the UN Security Council and press for sanctions, a move opposed by China. North Korea has said such a step would be tantamount to a declaration of war.
