Call your Senators NOW: ask them to oppose John Roberts!

The Senate Judiciary Committee devoted most of the day to the testimony of outside witnesses. Congressman John Lewis passionately articulated the danger of Roberts' confirmation. “I fear that if Judge Roberts is confirmed to be chief justice of the United States, the Supreme Court would no longer hear the people's cries for justice,” he said.

During his career in government, Roberts eagerly lent his exceptional legal skills to efforts aimed at weakening legal protections for the most vulnerable Americans. He sidestepped many opportunities senators gave him to repudiate the ideological agenda he advanced, and his testimony reflected little concern for the great harm the policies he advocated could inflict.

In fact, Roberts tried to distance himself from the memos he wrote arguing for policies that would have made Americans more vulnerable to discrimination, denied undocumented children an education, and stripped women of their reproductive rights. He attributed the policies to the presidents for whom he worked, yet throughout his clever testimony, never distanced himself from those policies, disowned them or disagreed with them.

1. Called Hagel's office, will consider calling Nelson, but basically since
he's such an bush** supporting asshole, it has always proven to be an absolute waste of time and effort.
