Hurricane Rita Edging More Northward

I have been watching the tracking of this storm since 9 am, and have noticed the projected path edge closer toward New Orleans. This is the latest Projected Path:

Bush won't be there anyway.

It's way too far inland. Austin may get needed rain. and Crawford is further north. The worst that can happen is a tornado and we have to remember that there are people in Crawford who do not support this president.

Have you read the Crawford newspaper - they supported Kerry during the last election.

I don't like Accuweather since I've been hearing about Santorum and his attachement to them over the National Weather Service.

Just scroll down a bit where it says "GOES Storm Floater 1
(Updated Every 1/2 Hour)" and there's 6 different loops you can watch.

If you click one on that list, after it down loads, you can check "trop fcst pts" and it will give a projected path. There are other boxes you can check for other info etc.

I can think of quite a few people Rita can drop directly on, though.

Although some of the models say north of Galveston/Port Arthur.

LA isn't completely out of the woods, but it doesn't look as likely as it did when Katrina was at the same point Rita is now.

She is on a westerly track and will turn WNW after she passes NOLA. Texas will take a serious hit this time.

Right now it is protecting the city from Rita's wrath. From what I understand it is strong and will move to the east. How fast that happens is a variable ,but it will most likely move slow enough to ward off the 'cane. Rita's fast speed is also helping to spare the city.

It is just too early to tell what will happen. I live in the N.O. area and I am worried ,but I just don't think we will get this one. Or maybe I should pitch my tent on 'da Nile.

What to look for is where the storm is at 90 degrees. If it isn't making a direct Northernly turn and is still moving West, New Orleans will be spared. Now if the 'cane makes landfall in Lake Charles ,then it will create problems in New Orleans due to rainfall and storm surge.

And that basically was the summation of my weatherman's forecast tonight. LOL
