Clinton declared a disaster a week?

Some twit on MSNBC just said that.

Carlson actually questioned the veracity of the claim.

Difference is, he was a good president and kept them from being worse than they had to be, so we don't remember them as well.

Remember Bush praising FEMA during the 2000 debates as the most responsive agency in the federal government, and Gore thanking him, since Gore had revamped FEMA?

For example if a creek flooded and only 5 homes were destroyed, that would be too small a number for federal involvement, and it would be totally left to state & local govts., which could choose to provide state or local aid. I don't recall the exact number of homes/buildings that were the threshhold trigger for a presidential declaration, but the thing is this formula provided an even-handed approach. If you go to the FEMA website you will see that at any given time there are multiple areas under presidential declaration of emergency - could be from forest fires, floods, tornados, or hurricanes. It's quite possible President Clinton declared on average one disaster per week. I think Bush hasa over 60 going on right now, and you recall former FEMA Director Brown's big defense was that he had overseen about 160 disasters - and that was about two years.
